Just asking the pirates here, what ship do you normally fly to do your job? I've got nothing against pirates, they do their way of life, and I do mine. I find it quite fun actually going 7 jumps through lowsec in a bustard while avoiding the gatecamps.
Anyway, I've spotted a variety of pirate ships out there, and the majority that I've seen is mainly BCs or BS.

For gatecamping I like the harb, for roaming I hear that ruptures and thoraxes own, but amarr cruisers suck. Although a tanked maller makes a nice bait

gate camps myrm domi hyperion roam anything from rifters AF's intys etc etc anything thats needed or i can afford to lose

For empire i use a Hyperion with full dps fit.
For low sec gate camps i also use the Hyperion or the mega with a twin rep resistance tank.
For 0.0 gate camps i use a 250km max range sniper mega.
For 0.0 roaming i use anything from a dictor to a falcon or hac depending on what is missing or needed in the gang.

Usually the Hurricane or a huginn. Hurricane is a excellent cheap all around ship. The Huginn is fast, very hard to catch, and especially awesome at blasting ceptors.

My preferrence tends to slip towards the minmatar. If in doubt use a huginn or hurricane
One thing to take into account if flying gal is that gate/station sentries really dislike drones, and you may end up seeing those alot.

Thorax or Taranis for belt work. Fast, cheap, good DPS.
I'm not terribly fond of camping gates, but I tend to use battleships when I do, either a blaster Mega or a torp Raven.

I either prefer a Hurricane or a Myrm. Both can tank sentry's and both can lay down some decent DPS. If I am in a BS a smartbombing Domi is always fun for gatecamps :)

Crow for soloing in belts etc. :P
Thier great for escaping if your targets get back up, and can solo anything upto a cruiser (cruisers without lots of drones, so a vexor usualy eats me alive :P)
Quite cheap and very fun to fly too.

i fly my onyx most of the time. I also have a gank mega, a blaster rokh (for uber pwnage), a smartbomb rokh (for unnecessarily large gangs...might as well), and a drake (for when i'm too drunk to be trusted tackling/repping)

my fave ship for fast hit and run piracy is the bestower, most players pay ransom as they are scared by the sheer size of the ship.

I would think a mammoth would be better for that. It's larger & still less well known to newbies then a badger or iteron.

LOL. Nah, I've taken out Drakes mainly and most of my pvp moments have been in self defense. Except for the time I lost a Raven in 0.0 to a 20 man nano gang... Boy I wass dumb to sit that thing 50km off the station. But live and learn they say. Or in this case, lose and learn.
I've heard good things about a Blaster fitted Ferox though, might try that out when I get my gunnery skills up to par. It seems like everyone likes to fly Minmatar or Gallente, and its true. Playing Minmatar IS like flying down a flight of stairs on an office chair firing an Uzi. Of course, I'm not going to buy a second account, so until I finish crosstraining myself into a sleek Ammar command, I'll just drool a bit when I see the Minnie fancy ships.

Your going to find the battleships and battlecuisers camping gates because they have tanks so they won't die to guns. Just about any of them will do the job.
For roaming / belt ops the best ships in no order would be:
Vagabond
Curse
Huginn
Ishtar
Rapier
My personal pref right now is for the vaga / rapier, but amarr cruiser 5 is training. |
