From the leaders of the Alliances to the newest of newbs you all make up EVE. However, I don't think any of you realize what we've done. Anytime you do something never been done before no matter how small it is a mark in history. While it may not be in any history books, and someone may do it bigger, better, faster or more significantly, it is still a moment in history that will forever belong to you. We broke 10,000 players and we will go higher but more importantly we were part of the largest group of people ever engaged in one game or sport. Never before have more people participated in an event based on competition and though we will never win we will always strive to be better than the other. Congradulations each and every one of you. You have made history.

"OMG! WE BEAT THE RECORD OF MOST PEOPLE PLAYING AT THE SAME TIME ON THE SAME SERVER MADE UP OF A CLUSTER OF 40 SERVERS IN A SPACE GAME THAT STARTS WITH THE LETTER E!!!"

I think that we are part of something much more univarsall and important then the 10k broken barrier, not denying its achievement:
The fact that games are so complicated and advanced that are becoming a main hobbie of many adults.I think that this are first steps toward virtual reality.

Dont be sarcastic it does mattwer the graphics and that its 3d and in same shard/world it determines a bit how much much info is exchanged between client server.
this is why CCCP has written:
"This is a world record for highest number of players together, at the same time, in the same persistent 3D world."
ITs atech record , tech specifics are important to it.
If somebody said i am moving twice the sound speed. In air in plane its no record at all.On earth in a car-like vehicle it would be agreat record .

Hey guys, I was part of the 7000 mark, the 7001 mark, the 7003 mark... Man there will be a lot of pages in the history book dedicated to me! Er... Maybe not.
Next week there will be 11,000 and nobody will give a crap about 10,000.

For instance the load is more intense, the requests for data is more on the cluster, the server has to be balanced more ( a text game who has lag makes no diffrent, but serverlag inside a graphic game creates lagdeaths, ctd's and whatever other stuff you should hate). So overall the performance of the server has to be better for a graphic game and has alot more data requests than a text based game.
Run logserver for a moment, and look at the ammount of data send and requested and you will get an idea. Then do that 10.000x and ask yourself if a text based game would do the same. __________________________
