Rigs are being sold below component cost?
So why is anyone actually buing those rig components then if they are more expensive than the final product?
And then why would anyone buy those when yoou can salvage them for free?!

You mine ore for free as well.
Hell, collecting bounties from rats is free: in that case why don't you give away everything you have since you got it all for "free"

Its obvious that all the T1 rig bpo owners are killing the market for everyone else. Clearly the only solution to this problem is for CCP to change all T1 rig bpo's to max run bpc's to help increase the profitability of selling rigs.

Why would anyone pay for an officer mod when you can just scoop it from a wreck for free!!

Edited by: Opertone on 18/05/2008 19:16:10 Edited by: Opertone on 18/05/2008 19:15:16 rig making makes profit, when you get supplies of our own, it is easier to sell one rig hydraulic bay thrusters than 100 pieces of burned logic, 100 pieces of interface circuit and 50 pieces of telemetry processor
after a dozen of salvaging missions you will have odd number of every piece of salvage, say 400 burned logics, 330 interface circuits and 90 telmetry processors, you go to the market and pay 'extra price' for components that you don't have, build 4 rigs and sell them so can you still make some extra profit in shorter time rather than selling materials on their own

This And most producers have gotten to 300me (.03% wastage) which makes it that much cheaper. Your isk/hour would be greater to sell a 15m rig that takes up one sell slot than 500 salv materials that take up 5 slots.
And again.. If you feel it is way to cheap for that item based on material costs... buy it refine yourself.

This appears to be one of the weird situations where the underpriced rigs are actually a result of people increasing the value of waste salvage.
I'm assuming that the value of the rigs is above the highest buy orders for the salvage.

The individual components are hard to sell. I manufacture rigs occasionally, but I have a stockpile of components from a while back that cost me next to nothing. I'm amking a decent profit on them, and it's easier to sell the rig than the components (as somebody pointed out).
Compare the buy price of the materials to the rig sell price to get an accurate picture of profits - not sell vs. sell. |
