What is it with people, thread after thread of "can someone plz help me with my ship setup". Is it too much trouble to actually try different configs yourselves and then make a bit more educated decision on the matter.
The most ridiculous of these threads are the, "CAN SOMEONE PLZ HELP ME WITH MY BS CONFIGS". What are you people, if you have played this game long enough to get the skills for a battleship, what have you done all this time if you don't know what to fit in your ship? (unless of course, you're a sad **** who just bought the account from someone)
go figure..

I hope you feel better now, because you just vented a lot of built up anger and frustration there. -------------------------

Whoa buddy. I think you should take a stress pill and sit down. The reason we ask is that we know there are more seasoned and experienced ppl out there and wanna know their opinion. We wanna hear their thoughts and ideas. Maybe something we never thought of. dude.....relax....its just a game.

That's your problem, not ours. Games and discussion boards about games should not be able to get you so upset. Seek help, my friend.

One thing about this "Ultimate setup for my Scorpion PLZ " or those threads, realize one thing, those of you that are asking for help...
There is no ultimate setup for any ship (possibly a couple of exeptions though), setups vary on what you intend to do with the ship and i for one use 6 different yet for me kinda standard setups for my scorp. I use several different setups for my apoc and so on and so on....
Chaos is also a very good place to test setups, against pirates or against players or just see how long your cap will keep up your setup (under imaginary conditions).

I believe that it is much more constructive to begin a post with a setup you are thinking of, and then discuss it with the others. I must agree that it sucks when people just post: "what is a good <shipname here> setup?". They don't have to own all the stuff in the game, but i do think people should do a little bit of homework (which can be done without even owning the ship yet), debate it here and then change accordingly. -------

I'd like to see a ship setups forum, with one sticky thread for each ship class.

Um, I *am* a noob and I find suggestions useful as starting points for potential configs. I presume you're a longer-time player, so you probably take a lot of things for granted, whereas a lot of stuff is still black magic to me - especially PvP.

If you are referring to me, no, I have played this game for about 2 weeks ( and I'm separated from my precious comp for the time being).
My point was not to try and diminish intellectual conversation on ship setups, just to point out that people should at least make an effort of trying different setups themselves, not going "OMG I NEED HELP WITH THE SHIP SETUP, THIS IS TOO HARD" the first thing when they get a new ship.

Ok So now playerz asking for help is a no no to you!.Hummm i have been playing eve for 5 months now and still come on to see if anyone has good setups or setups that i might take bits out to try out.... tanked, npc, pvp and so on one of the best ways to see if a set-up works is to get a few mate from you're corp or others u can trust and go out to a low sect sys moon and get them to off load on you're set up 2 guys are best that will tell how good it is and go back to a station and change a few things round and go back out,try to jam & web. take it in turns to see how the set-ups work. You will never get the best set-up on the forum coz player just won't tell you-but you will get tit-bits that will help. Also if you can get named items all the better-keep train thoses skillz 24/7 and looking through the forums going back days on here well worth a look .

How do you "try" different setups? Fit, go out, lose ship, mine for a week, get a new one, lose that and keep that going until maybe you don't die?
I'd rather get a little insight. There are some really innovative guys in this forum. They think of stuff I, or maybe nobody else, would think off. Plus they have tons of PvP experience and know what works based on practice, not theory.
I do agree that people should come up with an initial setup so others can look at it and see what the guy is trying to do. Showing effort is good. Being spoon fed is bad. But I don't agree that they should run out and try it right away if they really have no idea, lose their ship, and then ask questions.

Edited by: DeerHunter GE on 03/05/2004 11:15:24 Kaskakka, different resons to ask for assitance could be..... 1. Someone mined his whole Eve life to build up his carreer and avoided all battle types.... 2. has not too much time but is in for 7,8 or more months and build up his skills now he gets an BS from his corp and has difficulties to find an balanced setup 3. Is searching alternatives to his setup from real expierrienced PVP players... 4. Just want to share his knowledge with others....
There are many other reasons to do so. I frequently read threads with complaints about almost anything, but your thread seems to me the most stupid one and is absolutely uneccessary, keep your wisdom for yourself and let other people share everything they want.... Don't ask "can i have your stuff" because i'll give it to everybody else than you! |

To the original poster:
I think they do this because not everybody can afford to buy all the stuff to try out different fittings. That's why they ask for fittings to get some guidelines in the forums.

The thing i do when asking for others setups is to compair and contrast...thats all...then i put together the best of each for my own needs and go from there...(if they fit my cpu and powergrid...they usually do)...then i test on some lvl 2, then lvl 3, and even 1 lvl 4...thats it. Simple really!
