That is true and we should be patient. I think it is the grim phantom looming over the New Eden that spreads the tremor of worry among the flock. We need a shepherd to guide us, to tell us what is really right and what is wrong. We are His chosen people, that is why we look with hope and longing for guidance. And moments like this only strenghten our need. I have faith that what you say is true, I know it is - that is why I do not despair, yet long for the Emperor to appear. We have to wait and pray He grants us focus and strong will.

But then I doubt the Heirs of the Houses are jumping to start some trials that could potentionally kill them off.

A war is very often a crucible after which only the strongest are left. I suspect that the oncoming conflict will see a new Emperor or Emperess crowned - and he or she may not be one of the current 'candidates'. If not... Then I do not know. Perhaps we are fated to be without a crowned leader as penitance for some great sin.
