Could anyone post their opinion along with a setup? Since the Omen has an extra 5th turret now, is it better than the Maller for pvp?

Edited by: Flyit on 18/05/2008 14:30:37 Maller is still much better than the Omen.
Maller or Arbi depending on your skills

Resistance bonus and the massive powergrid is still better than the extra gun then?

the omen is decent for gang-added dps. Solo however its not that great. Id go with the arbitrator personally. The maller has a good tank, but im not sure if its dps is good enough to take targets out fast enough

For pure cheap gank for your small gang an Omen is very nice with great skills. 5 T2 focused pulse with 3 heatsinks and whatever buffer tank you can throw on it. Plus it has a 15m3 drone bay to squeeze in 3 light armor repair bots for helping to repair your mates after the gank is done. Arbitrator is just good all round with its 150m3 drone bay for a mix of combat, ecm and repair drones with a 4/4/4 slot layout so you can pretty much fit it for whatever role you need it to fill. Maller is a good bait ship with a maxed tank but thats about all it can do pvp wise really.

IMHO there are two goodish amarr cruisers and one okay.
the good 1) Arbi... if you have good drones skill it is a great boat, buffer tank it and neut it out. 2) Maller... 1600mm plate, small guns and play heavy tackler/grind through stuff. the usable 1) Omen... if you have a small gang and ew it can do tolerable dmg. Honestly you need really good skills just to make it usable. I'd go with either the Arbi or the Maller. ------- I am the King of Rome and above grammar. |

Arbitrator all the way, great EW and with good drone skills can dish out a nice bit of DPS and with that launcher slot deal out a bit more DPS, its capable of rendering battleships useless pretty much as long as they are turret based

Count me in for the Arbie. I fly mostly T2 now, but I nevertheless always seem to have two or three of these boats in the hangar. A great, fun fit:
2x Overdrive Injector System II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Capacitor Power Relay II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II 2x Tracking Disruptor II Large Azeotropic Ward Salubrity I
'Malkuth' Heavy Missile Launcher I Drone Link Augmentor I 2x Small Remote Armor Repair System II
Vespa EC-600 x5 Medium Armor Maintenance Bot I x5 Hammerhead II x5
With my modest skills, you can orbit at 60KMs doing over 2KM/s - letting your drones and missiles add decent cruiser-sized DPS to the gang.. along with great EW versus turret ships. Any fast ceptor that moves out to close on me gets my ECM drones until I can MWD back to the group. After the fight, my remote reppers are a very popular bonus.
Another cool fitting (I have not yet flown) getting rave reviews from Sivaris:
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II Adaptive Nano Plating II Small Armor Repairer II
2x X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator Warp Disruptor II Tracking Disruptor II, Optimal Range Disruption
50W Infectious Power System Malfunction 3x Small 'Knave' I Energy Drain
Hammerhead II x5 Vespa EC-600 x5 Medium Armor Maintenance Bot I x5
21K EHP in a mini-Curse setup that can dual-web anything that's foolish enough to close range, then run a cap-stable active tank until it's T2 drones finish the foe. Intriguing. Fast, cheap, versatile, fun. Arbitrator. -- Meridius Dex --

Maller with 2 1600mm plates for an extremely heavy tackler, or an Arbi for all around awesomeness.

arbi is the best... but maller could be nice suprise :)
try med and small repairer together and 425mm autocannons. You get well tanked cruiser with big medium guns.

The arbi is amazing against any turretship (well turrets and drones goes well too) target and the maller is a good tanker and in small gangs (currently 3 cruisers) i have my Omen set up for a nice DPS boost for that gang (it can even fit 3 small drones yay). So basically 1 vs 1 amongst these cruisers i whould say arbitrator in 10 out of 10 cases but if against other ships i whould say maller gives a good allround usage, and can also be good in gangs while Omen truly shines in gangs delivering good dps. (gangs always need MOAR DPS)
Well for the maller i have the following setups:
Maller with medium guns and 1600 plate: Hi:s: 5 x FMP II 1 x Small Neut Mids: 1 x AB 10 MN 1 x Warp Disruptor 1 x Cap recharger II Lows: 1 x 1600mm RT plate 1 x Thermic,Kinetic,Explosive N-Type Hardener, 1 x DCU II, 1 x RCU
Altough it is untested and i whould never solo in it.

Edited by: illapa on 20/05/2008 20:12:54 Well I was not counting HAC. I brought up the idea of the best cruiser mainly because of the upcoming faction warfare. Omen seemed good for damage and decent health, I've always flown the Maller and Omen(Zealot too) so I wouldn't know about the others. Which would be more fit for the faction wars since I'm assuming they will be like a cross between Gang pvp and kill missions?

Edited by: Jill Antaris on 20/05/2008 20:21:17 I myself prefere the Omen. It is a nice fast ship with a good Range. Also I preaty mutch like that the Omen is underated by most players, so you got a slight advantage of the unknown. ----------------------
Nerf Lasers! Thay need far to less CPU and Grid to Fit. Still using not enught Cap and do far to mutch Damage. O wait... they allready did... =( |

All "solo" Mallers I've ever met were baits, so beware ... That's one thing they are good at. Blowing up stuff at gates and tanking the sentries is another.

How do you get in range to web and nos with 1600 plate and no speed AB or MWD?
Just wondering since I was rather interested in this setup until that.

Doesn't the Omen need to be revisited though? All the setups I've seen have the ship before it got the 5th turret slot. Is there such thing as an Omen that can solo pvp? I'm just throwing this together off the top of my head sorry for lack of specifics:
High slots 3Focused Medium Pulse II 2Heavy pulse II
mid: 1 named cap recharger 1 warp jammer 1AB/MWD
low: 1Energized adaptive nano plating II 2Heat Sinks ....and idea what to do with the other 2 slots, I'm guessing an armor rep of some sort and a power diagnostic.
