Edited by: Maktalon on 18/05/2008 14:24:03 Selling out my database of moon surveys. Most 0.0 regions plus empire covered. There are still some unoccupied gems in empire as well as in 0.0.
IMPORTANT Since im getting spammed with convos please follow these rules! If you want one of those regions, write me an in-game mail stating which region(s) you want, send the required ISK and tell me an email address where i should send it to. They come either in .csv or as an mysql dump..No other format will be supplied!
If you buy 3 regions at once, you get a discount of 15%.

Ugh... so, i had this nice thing all typed out... but, stoopid internet explorer messed up... anyway, short version time...
Be wary that .rar files can be "kracked" (lol... cant type it properly - "*****ed") even if password protected... Norton Anti-Virus (i think) raised some talk about it deleting files WITHIN password locked .rar files... I also know its possible to strip them of their password so you can view the files themselves...
My suggestion is either TrueCrypt (www.truecrypt.org) or better yet, create your own encryption method using a simple shift cypher and rearranging the letters a little... or, better yet, a stream cipher using some keyword... that way you could make a program that could input a keyword and file name, then output the encrypted file... that way they'd have to have that specific password to unlock the file, and that would be the only way to recover the file (unless you hand out your encryption method)... or they bruteforce your decryptor... (use a 20+ character keyword... =P)
either way, something like that would be extremely easy to write up, assuming you are working with nothing but text files... which i know .csv are... Havnt had any experience with mysql dumps, but im sure they are nothing but text as well... the program could be easily written in C++, Java, etc... even Assembler would do the trick... just... it might be a little difficult to pull that one off... but possible never the less... anyway, point is, dont always trust the popular "encryption" features of RAR files or Spreadsheets, etc... Custom encryption FTW!!! =D
Back on topic, I was considering exploring the moons of my region, but a glance at the number of moons reported in each region, im considering using your services in the future... Best of luck in the selling of these lists.

Thanks for your advice, though i must say i think you dont know too much about encryption methods. Of course you can ***** the rar password, though only via bruteforce attacks. For a 128bit AES key thats gonna take alot of time, depending on your computer farm. Your advice to implement my own circular shift encryption can be hacked within seconds using frequency analysis or even bruteforce.Even MD5 (an advanced version of the usual crc or crc32) has several ways to find key collisions. Inventing an encryption algo is by no means trivial. The only way to secure it better is using a key of the length of the file itself and XOR it. But who wants that, thats why we have strong encryption methods like AES. I remember a paper published by some guy around 2003 who claimed that key collisions can be found very fast via an supposedly easy and very fast cyphertext-only attack. Since AES still exists in that version i doubt this was true. So, if you happen to ***** this file, congratz, you searched the right subspace.
(btw: truecrypt encrypts also via aes)
[EDIT: Oh, regarding your deleted file in a password locked rar. That should be easily possible. You dont have to decrypt it for that. just delete from the specific offset in the file. The rar header shows you where files start and where they end. Its easy. But norton never sees the real content of the file.]
