Pretty much what the title says. Can you join a war zone without belonging to any faction, and kill everyone you find? (With the usual security status drops obviously)

If the warzone is in low sec you should be able to as long as your ship can use the gate. Highsec too if there are any there but then you would have to suicide gank them. At least I hope its that way as I have a lovely pirate alt just coming into his own with a T2 fit Geddon and a Zealot as soon as cruiser 5 finishes.

Bring ransom money.

Meh...you'll just get ganked off the entrance gate by a blob of 0.0 alts bringing those null-sec feared tactics of "Duck Hunt" to the eager beavers.

Well they can't possibly blob every warzone and I do have this thing called a scout. Besides I've done my fair share of piracy over the years so no amature hour for me unless you were meaning the potential FW targets. The only difference this time around is that this will be a dedicated pirate alt who doesn't stop right at +0.01 sec then go rating to fix sec status and will go all flashy red.

I have a question... assuming you could go and pirate militas - what about the faction navys?
If there is faction navy vessels present in the area, will they shoot at whoever may be pirating, or attempting to? ____________________

That, to me, pretty much describes what will happen in FW areas in Low Sec Empire. There will be a decent concentration of all sort's of PVPers trying to cash in on quite a number of "Militia" people.
I predict whinage on forums above and beyond of what we have seen before, only compared to whines of: Dual MWD Ravens, Torpedo Nerf, Drone Nerf... can't remember, didn't we have a few other really cool nerfs that made the forums run red with blood?
Well, this is supposed to be a boost to Low Sec - so, I really hope it works out, but I am rather skeptical about the whole thing.

Originally by: Amastat Well this should put a stop to some of the cry threads about piracy in low-sec being dead then.
Maybe. It all depends on how many people actually will be arsed to go to low sec for FW. Until it hits and the true mechanics can be figured out I'll just wait to draw any conclusions.

But things are changing for FW, with the battle for control points, and systems flipping control, there is a chance there will be faction npcs now in the low sec regions connected with FW.
No one knows till next weekend when the expansion goes on sisi. tbh ill be amazed if ccp hasnt put some mechanic in to stop pirates just campint the entry points

Im pertty sure the faction navies will be camping the boarder gates and shooting people that harass thier forces, and most liekly they will be presence in the warzone as well to make up for the lack of skill or forces of either side.
High sec navy would continue to do the same thing shoot down people they spot, they wont warp scramble but if a fellow militia man scrambles you though it aint going to be happy time.

Yeah, probably getting there will require a trip through hisec and if you harass everybody then soon enough that is going to equal a lot of faction navy on your buttocks. ---- Infiniband can do more than just prevent lag |

Fixed that for ya. Remember that all of the FW people will be in the same alliance, which means they will all be in the same chat, going to the same places.
It will be quite funny when the pirates are complaining that everytime they attack a FW pilot 30+ ships come in and gank them.

Very much indeed. Tbh if that happens then FW will be counted a resounding success and I will be a happy pod pilot. But it remains to be seen if it will happen.

The difference being is your targets will be setup to pvp and looking to shoot stuff (including you).
I think it'll be fun.

at the risk of stating the overly obvious, it's pretty accepted that lowsec is dead; soft squishy carebear targets simply have no reason to come here. yet who DOES have reason to come here? antipirates. and blobs thereof.

There is the odd noob in FW. But more than ever, that is no longer the case. When most people want to find some pvp, they join an active fleet led by an experienced FC who knows what he's doing. When people just want to run complexes (usually not the same people; occupancy doesn't really mean anything and many don't care about it), they join groups that will go around and run at the first sign of conflict. Combine that with the incredible intel that comes from a massive number of people telling everyone else whenever they see trends in local, and you get a situation where there are very few easy kills. As with any group who knows what they're doing in pvp, FW members will only engage with a good chance of winning, so if you want to fight, you better be prepared to take some real risks and have a pretty good plan. A relatively large number of ships wouldn't hurt either.

it's noobs flying 30 deep in crap t1 fits
means if you win you barely cover ammo costs, and it's surprisingly easy to lose to 30 some cruisers even if they all fit the most wrong possible weapon systems. - -

I dunno how it works generally, but when I attacked a pirate who entered a plex that I was defending, all the rats joined in to help. Not that I needed their help; it was probably the worst setup Rifter I've ever come across!
