Im usually very careful about what I click or write because I know there are no filters installed for stupidy. Today, however, I was badly distracted by my friend while I was showing the "new" graphics of EVE. I thought to share the stupidy.
While floating outside of a (mission) station and doing some "look at's" at ships I stumbled (without noticing) upon an unpiloted velator and managed to click "board the ship" instead looking at the ship. A half a minute or so went and my friend said something about that did I board a ship instead looking at one. I reseted my view and found myself staring at a moving velator instead of my battleship. After panicking I found out I was 4000m from my battleship and saw a pod traveling towards the ship very near me. I clicked approach to the now empty battleship immediately and managed to board it a second before the pod was at range. Needless to say, im very happy to have learned a lesson and not losing 300 million while at it. I wouldn't recommend anyone to learn it this way though.

I tend to close down EvE or at least minimize it for that very reason. My brother decided to warp scramble a CONCORD guy before, which said CONCORD guy didn't like too much.

Account sharing, eh? AT least the OP did it himself, while showing off the game, not letting the guest do the clicking...

It isn't. But it's 1 person per account. And letting someone else play is bad, mkay?

I once put an entire deathstar POS offline by misclicking and choosing to put offline instead of manage on it.
Hence to say I immediately put back on the warnings about offlining stuff. --

Edited by: sg3s on 19/05/2008 12:32:49 Nice to see a topic like this... Last night we were having some fun on on of the busy pipes into the 0.0 space we reside in... and at some point when not much was going on our dictor pilot managed to leave ship on the gate... while at the same time there were some reds like 2 systems further...
Joking about it on vent and laughing about it only being a 80m ship compared to my own crow which I have lost due to a mere computer failure once, fun times. He got back in without trouble, then he started to tell the stories where he did the same thing with carriers... He was drinking almost all of the times... Fun times
edit: I guess you can whine days on end about the crappy UI and how easy it is to missclick, but you can also see it as extra features that give you an adrenaline rush in boring times...

I had the same problem one time, but because I tried to click on the stargate to have it in the Info Panel of the Overview (and click after in the Jump Button).
There was an unpiloted Ibis nearly the gate and...
My mouse do sometimes a double-click (used one), and this day, this happened. Maybe I miss the gate, or maybe the Ibis was in front of it, but EVE make me aboard the Ibis.
I was in an industrial ship who had probably 1 Billion of stuff, hopefully, no one wanted to go inside (oufff). ____

ANother way to save your ship would have been to target it. People can't board ships they don't own and that are being targeted by someone else.

You assume he was account sharing with his brother.
Go read it again. This was in no way stated nor implied, in much the same way he didn't (nor should he have to) spell it out for you that his brother was probably using his own account, client and could be half-way around the world.
Mkay?

My keyboard is hidden underneath my desk, and makes it wonderful for defeating my cat's attempts at messing me up.

I have 3 cats, so you can imagine how many stories I have for that.. But, my best one
I was soloing a lv 4 in the Sliephner I had just bought testing out my fitting. Well everything was peachy until I went in waaay to close thinking I was on the last wave of baddies. Low and behold I was not and I ended up webbed and scrammed at 4km to 5 bses in a boat set up for 23km+ combat. As you might have guessed, I was not exactly calm now.
So I'm freaking, watching the scrammer slowly go down, and my armour slowly go down, when my gf comes over to see what I'm doing. And by see what I"m doing, I mean reach down and hit every random button she can on the keyboard.
Bye bye went my weapons, and one of my hardeners. By the time that I jumped like sombody goosed me and got the mods running again I escaped with 68% structure -----------------------------------------------
