Anyone know the difference between these modules. Looks like a T1 vs T2 passive targeter is a difference in 5s activation time. I would think the short time period of the T1 would be better so I could start passively targeting the next ship quicker. So....I guess my questions is, what's the real benefit of using a T2 over a T1? Thanks!

Well, I guess that's a start...but the cap usage is very minimal especially since it's not a perma-run module. Anyone else want to take a stab? I'm curious to know more about the timing difference. What is better about a longer timing? Seems backwards to me.

It's a passive module. You dont activate it on target, it's activated on you.
Not bothering to check numbers but making up fictional ones.
20 energy to activate 5 secounds for T1 10 secounds for T2 4 Energy per secound for T1 2 Energy per secound for T2.
Hence, longer activation time is better.
And the diffrence is well, it's not there. In practical passive targetter usage.

Hmmm, unless I misunderstand you, I'm pretty sure it's not a true passive unit. Contrary to it's name it has to be activated then you have to select the intended target. After that the module deactivates after its rated time (5s or 10s) and you can start using it again for another target. From there you take however long to target as if you were not using the module.
Are you sure it uses the rated cap amount per second? I was under the impression that it used the rated amount of cap per targeting cycle.
As for the numbers:
T1 - 5 cap & 5 sec. T2 - 7 cap & 10 sec.

Don't use passive targeters. In general, T2 will take more fitting, use more cap but provide a better effect. In the case of passive targeters, I'd guess that that means more targets lockable...

Because even though by their description yes, that is what they do, no, they don't help vs ecm. Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

Actually its the pirates who use them the moast. Go from belt to belt in a frig scanning hulk fittings without them knowing and when you find that rare Gistii hulk spawn you can come back in a couple of insured Brutix and collect.
