It was said that there would be a DX10 client sometime this year. Is that still on the agenda?

Edited by: MotherMoon on 19/05/2008 06:31:09 hopefully, the DX 10 models in the art book are insane.

I've not seen them, but DX9 is capable of just about everything DX10 is - just not as fast at doing some of it. I wouldn't expect a whole lot, maybe some new shaders and effects.

Empyrean Age: Screenshots zum Add-on des DirectX-10-Spiels Eve Online
showing the same pictures from the EA feature site and the last "Scope" video ... but they say DX10 ... so CCP, is this true ?
Are we going to DX10 with the next Expansion?

There is no dx10 content in the Empyrean Age. That German site probably got something wrong somewhere if they said that there was.

Obviously this reply does not constitute a promise to do anything but I'd like to see the discussion take off and see opinions from both sides.

well not DX10 but the models in the art book are well... insane
I might just post one single compare of the art book model compared to in-game... it's either the best normal mapping ever or the models are easily 80,000 polys on even the smallest ships.

The actual trinity models they made are really hot, but the ones we got ingame are nowhere near that level of quality. It shouldn't be that noticeable but it is, the normal mapping ingame is crummy on a lot of ships. _______________________________ http://epicwords.net/ |

Edited by: Katana Seiko on 20/05/2008 07:48:04 Well, from those pictures and the little video I saw a few days ago (sorry, don't have a link there) I'd say Destiny (afaik the physics engine) is getting a little change... I haven't seen the artbook, but usually the normalmaps for ingame models are done by calculating the difference between lowpoly ingame model and the highpoly model into a texture.

I have seen it from various german gaming websites. They are all paid by microsoft to write as much dx10 into their articles as they can...
No, seriously. All major gaming magazines and websites in germany lack all professionalism. They don't do proper research at all. pcgames, gamestar..all of them make stupid mistakes..
