Just out of curiosity, what do you think the largest corps in EVE are? Has anyone passed the 250 member mark, for instance?
And also, about how many people are in the biggest alliances? I'm assuming a few hundred for most, but has anyone (like CA) hit 1,00 members?
I was just wondering what really counts as "big" currently. (personally I'd call any corp with 50 people big and any with 100+ members a megacorp, but that's just my opinion)

i may be wrong but i believe that Rona are the biggest corp for the number of players, all 3 divisions combined total to about 320-340 players. The CA are probably still the biggest alliance in the game though.
there are many ways that you can count a corp as big, most would say its the playerbase, some would say influence of the corp (many people wont like to admit it but jericho fraction have got a LOT of influence and arnt a petticularly large corp) others would say its just pure military might. its hard to get a common concenus though.
in my opinion though the 4 biggest corps in eve are Xanadu, TTI, Techell and Rona --------------------------------------------------------

I think XETIC is very large too... they have plenty of 100+ player corps...
And lets not forget Xanadu :p

Celestial Horizon (which I have never heard of) in Xetic has more than 300 characters in their corp. Dunno how many of them are active...

it depends on many factors does the size of the corp:
how famous? how many members? how rich? how powerfull? how persuasive/charismatic?
all are factors in how big the corp is. look at TTI, a shadow of the corp it was back when, but the name still carries clout. the same goes for techell as well.
how famous a corp is changes how you deal with them. on name alon the biggest corp would be prodominantly PvP corps with a few other thrown in. --------------------------------------------------------

Celestial Horizon currently has 306 members .
Although Celestial Horizon is a rather large corporation, I love being part of it. It's friendly, and has a real comradere feel about it.
Also, there's nothing quite like travelling through empire, and passing a couple dozen of your corp mates

who cares about numbers ? =) few good pvp'es are easly pwning 100+ corp
example : =) cfs space a2-v27 system t8h gates. our forces : 2 rus bships enemy : 7 bships (new corp trying to enter cfs space)
what do u think happend ? we engaged , killed one mega , domenix (structure dmg) escaped , other runned ... 5 min later , they got owned by few alpha team pilots, 3 more bships destroyed.
numbers means nothing , blob wars suxx.

I would think that the difference betweeen member count and actual active members is pretty big in a lot of the older corps so that one wont be easy to answer

ROFLMAO Did RUS just leave CA before you stated this, or what? Otherwise you should type that quote into your alliance chat some times each day.
Oh, and another quote just for you: "losses mean nothing, when you can just dupe some megacyte"

Yes, until I see that happen, I claim it is.
I've seen CA smacktalk when we've warped in and attacked 2 vs 4. I've seen CA smacktalk when we've jumped in to attack with 1:1 numbers. I've seen CA smacktalk until they run when I warp in and attack 1vs1. I've seen huge CA blobs sitting at a gate for hours. But I have not seen CA jump in to attack without having 2:1 numbers.

It all comes down to how much balls you got and how much confidence you have in the people around you.

Luckilly I have.
What it all comes down to probably Dalman is that you are so cool and such a great pvp er that no CA fleet dares to attack when you are in the enemy fleet. If not: We go charging in. If youre there: "OH NO ITS DALMAN RUN!!!!" PLEASE get off your high horses for ONE second. I'm so tired off ppl on this forum yapping about how everyone but themselves are cowards and have "no honor" Damn kids all off you.

yeah we lost a whole sh1tload of members due to one thing and another, so if that is how you are measuring the size of the corp then we are tiny, but if you are doing it by money or assetts or possibly how well known a corp is then we are still up there as a moderately large corp.

hey im just curious with all this stuff about fighting 2:1 and 3:1 or 74:1, whatever. Point being, im tired of ppl smack talking the other guys for getting more ppl into the fight. Is it their fault to want to be SMART about how they fight? Sure u can fight against the odds, but u dont HAVE to. and from what i get on these forums, everyone is always outnumbered. Point being dont hate the other guys for being smart and just continue to sit in ur safespot and u should have no worries. ---------------

Who cares about combat? I was asking because I was interested in the population of EVE and how big corps and alliances are actually getting now. I'm interested only in the number of warm bodies on the roster... whether they fly Velators or Tempests, or whether they have all gunnery skills at 5 or only small laser turret at 1, I do not care.
