long time reader first time poster in MD.
There was an ad in Jita local selling a Navy Raven for 420mm. I contacted the individual to set up a contract. By the way he set up the contract it looked like a WTB contract with a link to the Navy Raven in the description. It didn't appear right so I asked him about and he said its to avoid sales tax fees. To my knowledge your only hit with the 10k contract fee. Then he said could be the proceeds from the contract will go to the corp wallet.
This whole situation seemed fishy, was he a scammer or is their any validity as to what he is saying?

If it looks fishy, it probably is. You can get screwed in amazing ways with contracts, if you're not careful or don't understand what's going on.

From what I've seen advertised, a contract definitely can be set up to look misleading in a variety of ways, and if it's the guy I saw advertising in Jita Local recently, it's almost certainly a scam attempt.
There is some opportunity for savings in Private Contracts vs. Public Contracts or the Market though: the Private Contract will have a 10 kISK broker's fee, whereas the other options do charge a percentage-based broker's fee and sales tax.

Most likely Freeform contract, so scam. Private contracts have only 10k fee as you said. Never accept anything but Item Exchange or Auction contracts when buying items.
