Adrian Dixon wrote:I remember how impressive it was warping into a belt and for the very first time hearing the fierce shound of a good sized mining barge gang. Exactly. At least for the strip miners, it should sound like a truly industrial-sized operation, ripping an asteroid apart, not a little beam pecking at a rock! I'd even like to see chunks of rock flying off, being propelled back up the beam, clanking off the intake ports as they're shoved down into the cargohold.
Also, for those who don't like a continuous noise, they have options (turret-volume option, zoom out, speaker-volume down), but those who want it, don't have any options at the moment.
And if you need to hear the start of the cycle, just have a power up/power down sound at the beginning/end of the cycle. (or perhaps, if the turret volume option is selected, have the short existing sound.)
Visually, I like the blue/yellow contrast, but it needs to be a lot bigger for a strip miner. And, of course, colours based on your crystals.
My container is NOT imploding! It's just a bit upset that it only sees T1 modules and cheap rocks. |

have to say... just re-activated my a/c after a year's hiatus and went-to-mine...
i'm not an advanced player, just play it as a pass-the-time thing. i'm passive, i wander about for the atmosphere...
i MISS the sounds of mining. loads.
my miner isn't even making any sound or visuals*... i now have to watch the cargo all the time
cosign
*edit: visuals now seem to be working, not sure what happened there - and i'm now getting the initial noise - but i still miss the constant "naaaaarrrrrrrrr" |

Yeah just wait until the complainers hear them. They are really going to complain now. |

It seems like this has happened before...
It seems like EVE's slowly losing some of its art and audio assets. First ship trails, now this?
At the very least, the mining lasers' constant noises have been a part of the eternal nuance of mining. I thought CCP cared about the 'look and FEEL' of the game... And to the people who think that mining lasers were LOUD? There was a neat option to dampen turret noises, which included mining lasers and strip miners.
It seems like they've fixed the warping animation to an extent, but no mining lasers... It didn't take them too long a few years ago to fix the mining laser noises when they broke them to a worse extent, but that's possibly because it was more irritating to mine with pulse lasers.
This issue has been around for months, seriously... This is an Undocumented Feature. In layman's terms, a BUG.
Ship trails are being brought back, don't worry. |

... i'm actually starting to get used to the quieter mining now, including using my active shield as Meryl suggested on the first page.
still, it'd be nice to have the option for continuous mining sounds as many people obviously prefer the silence - so i'll adjust my cosign to mean that |

Blasphemous blasphemy. That was most of the fun of flying frigates back when I was a noob. I was flying ships where the trails weren't really visible by the point where they were removed. The ship-trail drag was pretty fun when ships warped though. |
