I noticed that when you make a new char, a "Constallation" Chat is opened by default, but nobody seems to be there.
Is it useless?
I never had that chat opened.
(NO, i'm not talking about the "Local" chat)

Constallation chat is good because you'll sometimes get info on gate camps. Keyword "sometimes".

Yes, I think it is pretty useless. But then again I've never spent any time with it open to find out of anyone else has it open as well.

sounds like it'd be a nice replacement for local, huh? remove local and make constellation mandatory. i just wish you could turn off the ******* chat window attached to the list of people and keep it as a nice, narrow window. that, and turn off everyone's avatars and just have a nice list of names with a standings blotch next to them.

There was a topic about this a lil while back, some one made a demostrations, and was signed by over 250 members..what ever happened to that Idea, my understanding said thought it was comign in T2 client...

very sure it was created to get rid of local and it never worked so they left it in but never got rid of local

Region was removed shortly after Exodus launched, and it was introduced. Constellation apparently hung on like a half-dead miser to his last gold coin. I didn't even hear of it again for about two years, and though it had been removed since it was a massive source of lag. Yet lo and behold, it was back after a patch. Or maybe my settings were just reformatted.
Anyway, it's apparently still around and trying to kick. But I've never seen anything about it other than, "Don't bother, it's useless."

FW is going to suck unless every agrees to not look at local and jsut use this chat instead... but they won't.

I've seen people chatting there, just saying hello or trying to find other players who speak their own language. So it is not completely useless.

You left out the ability to remove people you don't care about from displaying in local as well (like no blues, no neutrals (for when in empire...))

I often use Constellation to relay information about gatecamps, dont think I've ever seen anyone else in Constallation with me so I'm just broadcasting info for nothing but I figure that 'in character' it's something a law abiding pilot would do.
