if by "against" you mean "I'll be shooting ships of the Thukker Tribe and/or Mordu's Legion", the answer is no. |

As stated, no you won't. One thing you can do is check your journal and look at the location. To the left of it there should be a symbol (sometimes it's blank). That's the faction you're about to lose standings with. If you see gurista, you'll be blowing up gurista ships and losing gurista standing. It will show Caldari, Amarr, etc when it's an empire faction. Blank means drones, mercs, or both (and since they have no standings, you obviously lose none).

1) No
2) Yes
Each time your faction standing changes, it also has effect on other faction standings depending on faction inter-relations. I found this table (not sure if it is still uptodate): http://www.newedenlibrary.net/eon/faction_standings.shtml
Minmatar does not like Thukker tribe (-2.00 inter-faction standing) so killing Thukker Tribe ships can actually have small positive effect on Minmatar standings.
Caldari really likes Mordu's Legion (+9.00 inter-faction standing) so killing Mordu's Legion ships will likely have significant negative effect on Caldari standings.

I thought Thukker tribe was reconciled into the Republic a little while back... so they're friends again?
But the idea is sound. The factions all have their own friends and enemies, by working with or against one faction you will make small shifts with the related parties up or down depending on the relationship.
So for example: by working with the Republic, you will get "derived" changes against the Empire whether you take any anti Amarr missions or not, but these changes are very small and you'll see them in the detailed standing changes on your char sheet.
Curiosity killed the Kata...
... but being immortal he wasn't too worried about keeping a count. |

That table might be old - so best to check inter-relations ingame.
