I would just like to thank the EVE Community for its support throughout this campaign and for electing me on to the CSM. While I am aware that many of my own alliance and our allies voted for me, I am also aware that I garnered substantial support across the EVE universe, from all kinds of unexpected quarters, and I immensely grateful to everyone who saw fit to vote for me.
It will be both a privilege and an honour to represent the EVE Community in Iceland and I will certainly reflect this in the way I contribute going forward.
I just want to reiterate that I am not going to CSM to represent any particular viewpoint or playstyle or to champion the rights of 0.0 spaceholder. I am going to CSM to represent the playerbase as a whole and to ensure that this game which we all play continues to improve. That may mean that I end up defending the rights of sov-holders on some issues and opposing them on others. It simply depends on the issue and what I feel is in the best interest of this game and its playerbase going forward.
I would also like to thank the other candidates for what was in general a clean campaign. I look forward to working with the other successful representatives and intend to respect the expertise they bring to the CSM. As I have said before I am not a 'marketeer' or an 'industrialist' and will therefore respect the views and opinions of those who have more experience in those aspects of the game! The CSM Council does represent a cross section of EVE playstyles and I sincerely believe that every viewpoint is valid and of merit even if I do not necessarily agree with all of them.
Finally, I would like to thank CCP. I think this is a very exciting opportunity and am looking forward to meeting you all in Iceland. I sincerely hope that this is not a huge publicity stunt (as many suspect) and that the CSM does get the opportunity to contribute to the development in a real (and realistic) way. I certainly intend to do my part!
Anyway (apart from the Tom Cruise love) this kinda sums up my current feelings:

Edited by: Inanna Zuni on 21/05/2008 19:33:59 Something in there I would like to second ...
The members of the CSM are *representatives* of *all* pilots; none of us are (aka. should be) "delegates" of a few. Speaking for myself I am very gratified to have received the support I did and I will work not only for those who voted for me, but just as hard for those who didn't (and, indeed, for those who didn't vote at all whether they like it or not!)
Thank you all, again, and I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the Council online soon and out of pod next month.

ps. It has just been pointed out to me that I am the only Matari elected to this first Council ...

Was a close call for chairman of the CSM. We would have liked to see you in that position.
A strong second place is still good, of course. Congratulations on that, Hardin. |

Congrats Hardin. Despite my strong dislike towards large player groups, you struck me as being on the right side somehow. Show those heathens, will you? :)

gratulations jade and u getting on top of the csm was my dreamresult. u are both different sides of the same medall my vote was for jade as i had concerns abot u might beeing too much into the fortress mentality. after oposing u for so long in game i know that u are a verry decent person and i am glad u made it to a top position. if u are now both able to work constructive together we will have the best possible csm. to the other voted players: sorry i dont know anyone of u enough to comment on your abilitys or personalitys, the fact that so many players trusted u gives me hope that we, the playerbase, will be represented well towards ccp. listen to each others, stay constructive, csm is no place for personal dislikes or vendettas, keep in mind that there are different playstyles, ccp is not your oponent. let the work for a better eve-future begin.

Thanks for the kind words Mah Kraah and others.
I have been amazed out how much support I collected across the EVE universe - particularly from many who probably regard me as an 'ingame' enemy.
This has reinforced my determination to be open minded and listen with fairness to the view points of the EVE playerbase - regardless of where they come from!

Congratulations Hardin. It was nice to see you out there campaigning and the huge number of votes you received obviously showed how much respect you are held in this game even if you are an IC enemy ;)
Well done.

Yep, well done Hardin, we are pretty much on the opposite ends of the political spectrum on most ideological issues in Eve but it is nice to see another veteran member of the RP community making it to the big time and representing Eve on the CSM. I'm sure we'll have many entertaining discussions ahead.

Congrats to Hardin for making it into CSM. And also to Jade.
As Providence guest, I'm happy that the candidate I voted was elected. OOC, I'm also pleased that he'll get an healthy dose of "viewpoint balance" with Jade as chairman. I see that as a very positive outcome. -- Kate :: Dept. Foreign Relations :: Sudo Magodo Corp. |
