scenario:
purchase several refining skills.
Train hemorphite to lvl 1. Train dark ochre to lvl 1. Train hedbergite to lvl 1. Train pyroxeres to lvl 1. Continue with pyroxeres and train to lvl 2. Click on hemorphite and tell it to train (assume its to lvl 2) Short while later, get notice hemorphite is trained to lvl 1?!? Distincly remember training and completing hemorphite to lvl 1. Check eve-mail, indeed it says hemorphite trained to lvl 1. Check previous eve-mail, almost 3 hours earlier, have an eve-mail saying hemorphite was trained to lvl 1.
I trained hemorphite to lvl 1 TWICE?!?! Has anyone else experienced this? I havent really paid attention to the skills i have trained in the past, I always assumed when I finished training a skill to a level, it really was trained to a lvl. I begain training hemorphite again just to make sure, and this time it said it was training to lvl 2. Here are my eve-mails if you want to see...
2004.05.02 21:11:00 Training of the skill Hemorphite Processing to level 1 has been completed
2004.05.02 22:04:00 Training of the skill Dark Ochre Processing to level 1 has been completed
2004.05.02 22:41:00 Training of the skill Hedbergite Processing to level 1 has been completed
2004.05.02 22:51:00 Training of the skill Pyroxeres Processing to level 1 has been completed
2004.05.02 23:43:00 Training of the skill Pyroxeres Processing to level 2 has been completed
2004.05.03 00:04:00 Training of the skill Hemorphite Processing to level 1 has been completed
I hate to think of what other skills I have trained and didn't notice that the training didnt take effect.

Please look into, would hate for other people to lose time training the same skill over and over. Really sucks to spend time training something to just have to train it over again, and this was only a lvl 1 skill. Imagine a lvl 5 ![Evil or Very Mad](/images/icon_evil.gif)

I had something similar happen today as well. I just finished training Engineering up to lvl 5 and it didn't register that it was trained up, and was still at lvl 4. I relogged and waited about 5 minutes and it was fixed, i think its just a visual bug, and that it is delayed for only a short while. A corp member had a similar experience as well. ================================================

Yes, this bug is a side effect of a recent optimisation of mine.
A hotfix should be coming out for this today or tomorrow. The fix is already written (I did it yesterday), its just a matter of being able to get it out to the servers.
To avoid this, do not train the same skill twice (whether you completed or aborted the previous training) unless you have logged out first, otherwise, any learned points in that skill will be lost. In station, logging out and back in should be straightforward. In space, you would want to wait for your ship to be removed from space before logging back in. This flushes the cached data that is causing the problem and is now following you around as you jump and stargate jump around. -- Richard CCP Programmer. Anything said above is not the official line, but my own take or opinion. |

Edited by: Lynn de'Marco on 03/05/2004 09:06:09 I experienced something similar this night. Yesterday night before i loged of i checked the skills. I had memorised that i should change before i went to bed so the skill training shouldnt end in the middle of the night. It said it was two days left. NP. I loged of and went to bed... And started to think... The skill should have ended this night, not in two days. This morning i loged on. Still 2 days. I switched to another skill, and then highlighted the skill i was earlier training. Now it said 4 hours (Like it should have last night).
I dont know if this is a bug or something. I only lost 7 hours so its not that bad. But it could have been worse.

I've had a similar thing happen.
I've switched skills to finish a short one while I play, and when I've switched back to a long skill before I log, I notice that the skill time reported is as if I'm starting at the base of that level. Switching to a different skill and back again seems to bring back the proper time.
So, always double check the training time! Make sure what appears in the right click time (which has always been accurate for me), is the same amount of time as what appears when you start training the skill.

So the 16 hours I just lost on science 4 are totally lost?

I would petition it. Fixing/replacing stuff is usually done on a per-person basis by GMs, even with known bugs.

I think the best examples I've heard so far of skills untraining themselves were the person who was flying their merlin and tried to dock and it told him he hadn't the skills to fly it, although he had up to caldari BS skill. Also the person who had his tachs on, tried to fire the mand was promptly told he didnt have the skills to use them.

Not happy at all. I've lost almost 24hours training and one of my corp mates has lost days... When is the hotfix for release?

This problem still exists.
This still hasn't been fixed with any hotfix yesterday or the day before.

There is a work around for this:
When you have researched skill to next level and this problem occurs:
1. Start training again (you will probably start from level 0 to train towards level 1)
2. Abort training
3. Wait for like 10-20 seconds and the skill should be back to level 1 and you can start training towards level 2.
If this does not work, abort training and relog. Then repeat steps 1 to 3.

What about those of us who have lost entire skill levels and points? Will the hot fix fix this issue as well or will I have to waste anotehr week learning Level 4 Spatial Awareness? Also; this is affecting current training....![Evil or Very Mad](/images/icon_evil.gif)

Only takes a day or 2 to train a Rank 1 skill to lvl4. A week to lvl5 maybe, but not lvl4.
Anyways.. this is some server to client mishap. Try aborting the skill while it's training. That should force it to read the correct thing.
And remember. The only way you can lose time to this bug, is to train a skill more than once.
