Alright, so it goes like this -
Basically, that would be a skill, or set of skills to view regional market transactions log. After all, we're traders, right ? So why not have an access to such information ? That would make our trading lives more interesting and possibly add some fun to our trading pvp.
The core is already there, all the transactions are being logged. To make it more 'interesting' such operation could be performed by special agent, just like there are surveillance agents that can find people for you. The market information could be revealed and evemailed in similar matter.
It could trader's titan-like skill, x 16 training time multiplier or worse..
just a small mental sketch for set of skills *in case* of several skills scenario :
* skill that could expand by jumps the range of 'recent transactions mailed' within region (note - obviously this skill won't allow to read transactions from all over eve space regions)
* skill that would expand the number of recent transactions. i'm sure we can figure some reasonable numbers so the ccp servers won't get lagged. high prices for those services could be additional bump for same purpouse.
* a set of filters or possibly some additional skill would allow to filter the info for specific items/isk ranges/etc. but that may be unnessesary luxury just like the recent market settings filters we received previous major patch.(off the topic - have any of you actually used those ? for some reason i haven't. didn't find anything interesting there even though they seem cool )
* possibly another skill would reduce the possibly huge price for those services, or in case of actual market surveillance agent used for idea's purpouse, factional standings could be applied. or whatever :)

Earlier, before you made this post, and you went, "Man! I have this really dumb idea. I'm going to post about it!" What part about that seemed like a good idea?
Spend like 30 seconds on these forums and tell me people want all their transactions parsed.
The eve-market-forum-people are more secretive about their trades than the U.S. Government is about the location of their nuclear stockpile.
Don't be foolish. I could write a parser in 5 minutes that told you everything Proton Power has done in the last 30 days with this kind of information.

well, actually i was high :-)
pardon me, guess it's either my wannabe english, either you simply didn't understand me correctly.
the idea is not to monitor someone individual person's transactions, it's to monitor what's been sold/bought inside region in general. last 10-25-xx items/ships/whatever bought/sold, transaction quantity, possibly location. what's wrong with that ?
Riethe : thanx for replying, even though you could be slightly less aggressive imho. I can see your concern regarding spying on trades made by particular players. but generally the character names don't have to be revealed. It's more about getting an insight of what goes on inside the market system itself.

No.
Its already easy enough to find out whos buying and selling what. Open the market, look at an item. If you want to find out whos selling, buy an item. If you want to find out whos buying, sell to a buy. There are plenty of other techniques you can employ in market PVP, but the simple fact that some of them require ingenuity and actual thought is enough to ward off the casual daytraders. A skill like this that would literally let any wannabe information broker know everything thats going on in the market would be simply too much. People want to compete? They have to work for it. No reason to give anyone a freebie. Plenty of tools already exist. Learn to use them.

Information like this is a double-edged blade. The relevant information that could be gleaned from this will only benefit if the majority of it's users understand it's relevance, otherwise it will exacerbate the existing problems of the market. *** Si non adjuvas, noces (If you're not helping, you're hurting)

yea i had a tiny ammount of fitting room left on a ship and an un-used slot so set the filter to only show what i could fit to my ship.... it said i could fit a large armor rep so i decided to ignore it since i didn't acctually need a large armor rep on my frig
