Bailing out rich bankers and bankrolling genocide in the ME is one thing. But when Eve is getting more expensive, it all hits close to home. Too close. Not fair.

The GTC went up just $2-3, but you loose a whole month. 60 day cards vs 90 day cards.
This also means that the monthly credit card charge will most likely go up in the near future. The cards have always been cheaper to buy than the monthly subscriptions. Why buy 60 day cards when a monthly subscription is less?
This is a bad move on the part of CCP with two big game releases in the near future you want to become the highest monthly subscription game out there. I used to have allot of respect for the people at CCP but this is just a bad move.
The basic math... It will cost 33% more to play eve in the near future. I don't think there would be much complaining about a dollar or two increase.

It's not just the dollar. All fiat currencies are pretty much only worth the value of the paper they are printed on. (which isn't much) When people finally realize this, instead of blindly trusting their banker's word that the pieces of paper are worth something, the world economy will experience a healthy collapse and the mess all this monopoly money created will finally start to unwind.

What? We should go back to the days of barter? So a 1 month subscription to EVE will cost you one sheep or 100 loaves of bread?

If you think paper money is only worth the paper, I'll take all of your cash please, since after all you think its worthless.
Paper currency value comes from the belief that the US government or EU or any other fiat currency government (pretty much EVERYWHERE) will remain somewhat stable over time. I wouldn't call it "healthy" to have some kind of massive nuclear war or anything serious like that which would undermine people's belief in stability so much...

Unfortunately for you, I don't have any free paper cash on hand. I tend to convert my excess into something tangible of value (ie: gold, silver, oil, food, etc) as soon as possible to guard against loss of value due to inflation. Then, if I need something, I can easily convert it back to paper to exchange it for what I need, often getting back more paper than what I originally had to exhange for it. (as long as commodity prices keep rising anyways)

For those of us unlucky enough to live in the UK, and who can really only pay by GTC this will be a disaster. No longer can I, the customer, choose how long I want to play for, now CCP is deciding for me!!
My monthly cost of playing EVE has nearly tripled, and im being forced to either pay for 2 months of game time or quit, thats hardly what i'd call a smart fecking business move CCP. I dont know which ****** suggested you do this, but heres a suggestion for you, take the simple minded numbnut outside, and shoot them. repeatedly if thats what it takes.
Oh, and then grow a brain, some b a lls, and get a clue.................

Have you guys been to the pump lately?
Look the American dollar is in free fall vs most of the world currencies. The Canadian dollar keeps climbing vs it. So EvE has been progressively getting cheaper for me for the last year or so. All they are doing is bringing it back in line with what we used to pay about a year ago. Sure the Americans will pay more, but the rest of us will just go back to what we were paying about a year ago or so.
Look on the bright side: it means that CPP's Atlanta development team will cost them less, so they can hire an extra artist or two for the WOD game.

since when were GTCs the only payment method available in the UK? I pay by credit card, no hassle, ú10.30+ is way too much per month to pay for a game tho, im sure when I started this just over a month ago it was ~ú7.50
bloody euro, why must it be worth almost ú0.80 now? why cant it be worthless like the US$ so we british can get something cheap for once

. I guess its certainly good to convert your cash into something, although I'd prefer stocks or bonds, as these will usually exceed inflation. Maybe put it into gold if you really thing the currency's govt will collapse...but if you had put your money in gold/oil 40 years ago and I put my money into stocks...who do you think would be richer now? (of course there's the 20-20 hindsight problem...but I don't know why this trend would change significantly)

The bad thing about the increase in price for the GTCs is that the ISK price to buy them will go up too. Now for a poor broke uni student like myself, that is how I have been allowed to play. Now I will have to mission more :/

It's a shock that folks would have to get their in-game currency through in-game means...
I'm sorry but GTC cash ins are just a way of controlling RMT within the game. As far as the game is concerned its still a Deus Ex Machina for your wallet.

Why, if this is because of US dollar tanking, did they just change the price of GTC?
Would they not increase the price for game in US by CC as well if this was so?
My take on this is, that more and more people are using GTC's to pay for game time. They must not make as much out of a GTC sale as they do from a CC payment. So they are taking steps to keep their profits where they think they should be.

Because Europeans can't pay for the game in dollars except through GTCs.
They were losing money from people who realised GTCs allowed them to play the game cheaper. ---- Infiniband can do more than just prevent lag |

That makes sense and is probably the entire reason for the change. US players don't have to pay more to play as long as they have access to a traditional payment method. It should be noted that CCP's subscription methods now include PayByCash, which itself allows a greater range of payment methods like paypal to be used.
Of course the official reason for the change is still something about attuning their product range to the.. market standardisation.. something or other . Whoever let that marketing ploy announcement go out needs their head examined. The announcement made it sound like CCP were trying to deliberately mislead the playerbase and wash over the price increase, which I am 99% certain is not the case. A little more forthrightness and honesty would have avoided a whole ****storm on the forums earlier.
