Does anyone here play AoC? I was just wondering how that game is, I can't seem to find any good info on the game. The official page is very vague. I'm mainly curious about its PvP system and whether it has meaningful PvP like EVE or if it's another WoW clone.

It'll have meaningful PvP once guilds accumulate the resources needed to create their cities and battlekeeps.

I really wasn't interested...
and then I saw the combat system 
it reminds me of those old space sims where you could reajust your shields to rear/left/right/front. the coupled with the you can attack top bottom left right it makes the whole game very reactive!
like it swings left, changing his defensive, thus I should attack right, but if I use the wrong right attack I'll leave myself open to his combo attack.
I like the idea of mixing a fighter with an mmorpg.
also I saw the fact that ranged weapons are real time and you ACTULLY AIM! huzzah.
what else... I don't know I really want to try it.
Also I like how the combo system basicly lets you play with the UI off that's pretty cool.
and have you seen the city developer? you can build your own gaint fortess for your guild not jsut a room in "real time"
I can't wait for eve to have walking, I really hope that building our offices and bars is as fun as this :)
saddly as awesome as it is the character creation system seems lackluster compared to the ambulation system, but eve won't have combat so I'm sure that makes things easier:)

I was in closed beta. The combat system is very interesting indeed. I didn't get to try PvP beyond mini games, which were boring.
But I'm going to pick up a copy after class.

I heard a few journalists say its the best online rpg ever created. They might suffer from severe fanboyism though.

RPG now that would be a stretch considering the all out ganking on the PvP servers. Ah yes, everyone is roleplaying a psychotic killer, how novel.
Getting mine in T-minus 50 minutes. Cursed PvE server 'cause people can't PvP in moderation.

Are there PvP zones on the PvE servers or is PvP exclusively on PvP servers?

Yes.. There's the "border zones" where guilds fight for control of the battlekeeps. There's '9' battlekeeps (or 7?) on each server where guilds fight for them... Get more resources, money off of em', and such.

I havent tried it, but its a shame that it doesnt seem to have player looting at all... makes the pvp pretty pointless, although perhaps fun for a while anyway.

Same here, I have not played it yet either. But from waht I recall from the beta forums, AOC is not focusing on gear as much as skill. ...............or was that darkfall?

Ive been playing it for about 2 days now and I'm not going to yet say if its good or bad (I still haven't even gotten off the noob island yet). The combat system fun, amazing graphics, cool classes (that need balacing, the casters seem really underpowered). I cant wait to get out of the noob zone and try the real part of the game.
I rolled on a PVE server because I was hearing that leveling on the PVP servers was a PITA, with people just ganking each other, and camping the res points.
Traders are still broken (No mail, banks, "auction house")
It still needs work, but I'm enjoying it so far

currently the 2nd best MMO in existence, IMO.
1st being EVE
the hack n' slash combat, really makes the game.

I am installing it right now and its taken 2 hours so far, it's now downlaoding the patches which look to be about 1 gig altogether.
Btw, the disk install requires 27 gig of space..
I'm using a minimum spec machine - 3ghz P4, 1GB ram,
Those of you with dual or quad cores who are also fortunate enough to stick the game on a raptor or cheeteh harddrive should have a much faster install.
Edit: Just started installing it on my dual core laptop and it is MUCH faster

Think there are some week passes but for sure every box edition has a coupon thingie that lets you invite a friend for a week.

Worst MMO ever, seriously, everything is instanced like guild wars.
That said if any of you still want it I am selling my copy for $40. I can even mail you the box if you really want (I am USA though, so not international). Comes with the drinking cape and a 34 barbarian on a PVP server.

I know how my last mmorpg addiction turned out - I spent my entire summer vacation (10 weeks) without seeing the sun... just leveling characters and playing the game.
So Im not going to try this one, I think its too much fun... :)

no trial version as of yet but if you can find someone who can hook you up with a buddy key then you can play it for 10 or so days
