Right - A bit of a personal thread, as im the type of guy who goes "ILL TAKE BOTH!"
Ive got a REALISTIC setup on my vulture that actively permatanks 1200 dps. Does crap dps ofc, but can permarun the mods, and deal a good amount of dps for substitute sniping, out to 100km.
However, i can move the same setup to my nighthawk, and have a tank of roughly 1000 dps, with roughly 300 dps (this isnt including drones) and has a range of 70km.
The other factor is price - 60+ mil more for a Nighthawk than a vulture.
So i ask you, loyal community and trolls - Which would you go for, and why? I honestly need an outside opinion for this :D
And yes - pvp. High sec/low sec FW stuff.

small gang... id take NH fleet support ... vulture
NH in small gang is great... can tank and hit at quite far away stuff :) (nanos hardly ever get tackeled close to your gang anyways ;P
vulture is great for sniping other fleets support... and if u can tank alot.. you can survive abit before warping away :) ---------------------------------- Yes... this is my main. Extreme Troll Slayer...

Voting for Drake also.
I'd like to see how you get a 1000 DPS active tank and a MWD on a Nighthawk though.

Why would you need an mwd on a nighthawk, if you're in highsec/low sec on gates? :P Not like im gonna get caught in bubbles, and dont need to get into range either.
Plus - The topic isnt referring to the drake, but the Vulture and Nighthawk. Please keep that in mind for future posts.

You need MWD to burn back to the gate, to get back to the station that you've just been bumped off, to manoeuvre around the roids in a belt, to keep range on that Mega bearing down on you.
I spent a long time trying to convince myself that MWD wasn't essential in Empire, and failed. It's the single most important tanking module that you can fit, because no other mod increases your chances of survival like a MWD does. And that's without even mentioning the offensive options it enables. I don't like it being essential, but that's game mechanics these days.

I suppose he isn't solo and that's where an MWD is not mandatory. Scout warps in and the scout burns back to gate or calls the other in.
Bumped from the station and most likely webbed: How much advantage do you have with MWD before the second bump hits?
Why should he manoeuvre around roids in long range fits? As he obviously has at least one tackler at his side: Shouldn't the tackler inhibit the mega's movement?
If he isn't alone he should be able to avoid the MWD.

My friend, this is EVE, as it's a space oriented game, they couldn't have trolls. We have Caldari.
