No this is not another ¦¦How can I fit my megablastherthron``
Id like to collect combat tips from experienced mega drivers,how they handle them in combat,their tricks(well I understand many dont want to reveal their secret technique).Share your thoughts on the megathron.Enlighten us new mega drivers.This might sound noobish but none was born knowing everything.Share your ideas,and what you do in what situation.
Im sure many people will take advantage of any answer here,and I dont see this kind of posts often.Something more ¦¦ample`` then ¦¦get close and smack them`` or ``stay alive..``

Be aware of your distance to target and gun tracking speed. If you stray closer than 5k either move away or slow your ship down using the slider, even running at 90m/s you're still moving fast enough for long range turrets not to track you, but your blasters will score much more effective hits.
A particularly good tactic for a dominix/tempest/typhoon close range setup as they don't have the tracking bonus a mega does.

Do not attack tanked, smart Ravenpilots when you're not heavily tanked too, they'll outlast you.

Plenty of power diags and cap power relays and dont forget a damage mod.
Also - antimatter is not always the best at 26km (or thereabouts), check out the attributes on the alternative ammo if you haven't already done so. 6 railers can drain your cap quite well so ammo that has a 40% cap reduction improves your survivability, which makes you hit for longer, doing more damage.

no i can't even fly gallente frig 1... but i would use blasters on a megathron if i could fly it....

Megathron in fleet battles suck - you can't get a decent ranged setup with 425mm's because you have to use much of your defensive lo-slots for powergrid modules and by that time you've ran out of cpu to such a degree you can't really armour-tank (or shield-tank).
We really need to see a reduction in 425mm powergrid and an introduction of named armour hardeners which, like the named shield hardeners, have less cpu requirements.

I haven't checked, but I think the 425MMs are down to 2500 power-grid on Chaos, which is pretty handy and would make the Mega a more viable ranged-platform.

considering the Apoc is a pretty rare PV ship I would say otherwise  Or that its bonus sucks because lasers are useless....yeah real overpowered.
And lets not even get inot the crappyness of Amarr Cruisers or the arma.

Who says you have to use 425mm on a mega? I would rather use dual 250mm and tank the mega. MWD, 2 tek2 cap chargers and a medium cap booster and -40% ammo and keep that mega moving through the lines unloading infiltrators into shield tanked scorpions while working on cruisers and bs's with the D250s.

Well, you have two basic options when flying the Thron in a fight.
LONG range (It can be done pretty well)
SHORT range
The Megathron has always been second class in midrange fighting. It can't be great at everything.
I wouldn't mind getting you on the right track flying it. Send me a mail ingame and maybe we can chat when I get "free time".

The idea with ship fitting isn't to have all the biggest weapons in every high slot. Notice that a raven has a very very tough time fitting 6 siege launchers and 2 neutrons or 425s. And an apoc can't pray to fit 8 tachyons.
Go for the dual 250s or (if they are out yet) the 350mm rails.

Still doesn't change the fact 425mm's are getting a powergrid reduction and there's a definite discrepancy between armour hardening and shield hardening modules. There should be named sets of both.

But an Apoc can fit 8 425mm rails without much problem. Racial weapon/ship balance is FUBAR'ed ATM.

Right.
The moment an apoc outdamages a megathron with hybrids while still maintaining a higher cap reserve for tanking shouts imbalance imo.
