assumption 1: 0.0 macros use local to figure out when to auto-dock assumption 2: 0.0 macros are bad assumption 3: local cannot be easily removed without a replacement system
as so, i propose an idea: local window is set to "visible when talking", but instead when someone jumps in, everyone can hear it. on top of that, the sound played depends on whether they're blue, red, or neuts
macros work visually so they're oblivious, players can still hear it and panic appropriately, win win.
what do you guys think?

I like the way you've laid out your post, but I'd like to show that your solution is not suitable. Examining the problem in isolation, the best solution is one which is strong enough to solves this specific problem domain (the ability for 0.0 macro-ratters to know when to autodock) but weak enough that it doesn't effect other avenues of gameplay. Given that your solution affects people other than macro-ratters, it's not the weakest solution to the given problem and in isolation is not suitable for implementation.

I think you forgot another assumption:
assumption 4: 0.0 macros really exist and are not actually sweatshop farmers who play/work with sound on.
And I think this assumption is false. _________
Someday, EVE may look like this. |

I see one major problem with your idea. 300 man fleet jumps in, and your speakers explode.

Or it makes the sound of your pilot ****ting himself. So when the hostiles 'dump' local, there is no question about it=P

issue: not everyone has their sound on, in fact most people have their sound off. solution: instead of a sound, a light could flash in the corner of the screen. the macro can't actually see it so it is oblivious. _________

how about we stop of this thing of remove local and let it as it is, there¦s nothing wrong with local, if you do have one then just click at the 'x' mark at the channel and it disappears from your Eve. Easy.huh? P.S Hope CCP don¦t remove local cuz it¦s just a bad idea

The vast majority of people play with sound on. 'Eve has sound?' is a funny joke but totally inaccurate...remember 95% of players are not on the forums...
Also, macros can easily detect a flashing anything; just an hour or two or programming.
