Have sentrys shoot off defenders, or have new sentrys that do that.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before but wouldn't that do the trick?

Now im not positive but i could have sworn that when i would shoot at ppl in a .4 back before they increased the range. Firing a torp or cruise missle at someone would often have it shot down by the sentry, did they get rid of that defense when they changed the sentry guns? ---------------

Umm thats not a problem in 0.5>
The kestrels do get raped by concord, the problem is they sacrifice themselves to get expanders/loot from haulers.
This way if they fired off torps/cruise, they would be intercepted by defenders.
That or yeah, have sentrys shoot them down, whatever works. ________________________________________________________

Ah yes. The real reason you're doing this is because you want CCP to change the rules of the game.
Of course.
So obvious.

It wouldn't work.
The Kestrels fire at point blank range, there wouldn't be enough time for the defenders to get to the missile.

sentries won't be able to instantly hit the cruises, so if ur facing the target at 1KM they have no chance.
on another note, if we got enough ppl to ***** about asteroids being in asteroid belts maybe they would change it? i'm fed up with all the *****ing, just let it go, it happens. wht you need to campaign against is alts. with the main point being that alts can so quickly be trained up to use heavy missiles or cruises, tht is wht is killing it.

Ok amarr sentrys use uber tachys that fire every second, im sure the devs could make a defenders that never miss. ________________________________________________________

maybe make the requirement on cruisemissiles a bit higher by adding another skill also that would be needed up to L5 to be able to use them. that would make the training time 2 weeks longer for them. then they cant go on a 10 day trial to get to cruises.

remove the kestrals ability to use cruise missiles, and that of every other frigate as well.
Make concord immediatly scoop loot as "evidence" to be returned to the owner.
Criminally flag the kestrals buddy in the hauler and make him kos and poddable for several hours.
Any one of the three above mentioned fixes would basically solve the problem by removing any possible reward. Take your pick. Keep in mind though, that the only one that stops the griefer is removing cruise missiles from frigates.

They DO fire defenders.
Defenders, however, will do jack-all when fired from 25km away to save you from a cruise missile fired at you from three inches as the kestrel is humping the indy's leg. Since no one can fire at the kessie even if he's done this 3,543,633 times before, he can take all the time in the world to fly right up your ass before firing all missiles at once.
I'm sure the defenders look real pretty orbiting the sentry gun tho. Maybe next, when they impact on themselves, the sentries can all lower each others' sec rating and open fire on themselves...

Make the griefers in kestrels "wanted" for a few hours, and his loot-scooping "innocent" buddy in the indy as well.

Increase the concord security standing penality for fireing upon a ship in secure space. Ppl doing this should be restrained to 0.4 and lower quite fast. Not that i care much as i spend most of my time on 0.0. But last nite a RUS member sacrifised a kestrel for a noob flown shuttle in 0.6, thats got to be lame. ----------------------

Sentry guns already wtfpwn missles if they come into range. however. If a kestrel gets right up on the indy there is no way to stop the 4 cruise missles from hitting the indy.
Solution: Shield extenders and hardners. and a booster? omg this is crazy.

Just make everything after locking an aggressive act that needs to be "corrected" by getting their brains splattered all over the place.
There's no reason why someone can legally peek in your wallet if you don't want them to.
Locking someone is fine, but the moment they try to scan: boom. Preferbly gone before they get scan results in.
That would at least discourage most of these kestrel alts to do something like that.

sounds good and all, might possible work against 1 kestrel using a badger mk2 with someone with above average skills and 200mm or 400mm armor plates in the lows along with shield hardeners and maybe an extender if it fits, but from what ive seen its usually 2+ kestrels not 1

first things first, so how about keeping victims at their keyboard before we even think about the attackers?
but well, i ve tried to make up my mind on the subject, so here s a summary of my thoughts:
1. i m in favor of criminal flagging. power to the ppl is always good, concord sucks.
2. no wait, i m against it. coding it is a huge waste of resources. it s only necessary because ppl whined uber-concord into existence. now they keep on complaining. why should this be rewarded?
3. actually it might be great fun. if not extremly well coded (me, giggling manically) criminal flagging will offer massive new oportunities for highsec-hunting.
so well, in fact i don t care about the change. there are just 3 important points:
1. ppl will continue to complain. always.
2. the real problem is, that too many ppl get stuck in high sec space already. these changes wont help either.
3. please, please think further than your next afk trip when you ask for changes. consider how ppl from both sides will react. the question to ask yourself is: will the game be better after the rule change?

There is NO risk to the Kestrel pilot.
There is NO risk to their Industrial friend.
There is NO loss of ISK involved for the Kestrel pilot as they usually funded by a main, and any loot they get is more than enough to cover the cost of the ship.
There is NOT supposed to be any risk of having your ship destroyed by PC pirates in Empire space.
You are NOT supposed to get away with stuff like this in Empire space.
You are NOT supposed to tank up an Industrial just to survive a trip through Empire space.
Backup is COMPLETLEY useless as you CANNOT attack the suicide Kestrels otherwise YOU lose your ship as well.
There is NOT supposed to be huge risks, if any, in Empire space. ESPECIALLY the 1.0 areas.
With all this in mind, I can't help but think that it's the Kestrel pilots who are the "carebear crybabies" here. A number of people moan about Veldspar and Scordite strip-mining in Empire space; this is just the same thing, it just has different asethics.

backup? and how is backup supposed to help when they would be just as powerless to fight against these missile gankers as the hauler?!
shield hardeners seem to be the only way to survive such an attack. unfortunately, they often attack in pairs, as someone pointed out. personally, since the attackers are abusing flaws in the game (i.e. - avoiding reprocussions of their actions like the sniveling cowards they are through infinite alt creation, being able to fire on ships that can't fight back, and having a buddy or second account character nearby to pick up the ill-gotten gains) to gain a direct advantage over other players, what they do is an exploit.
but what are the Devs supposed to do? the Kestrels do get destroyed in accordance with the game design...
molecular tagging of modules should help to alieviate this type of piracy. if the missile-ganker's buddy swoops in to fetch the loot, all the Concord ships there will fire on him for taking another person's modules, making him as much of a target as the missile-ganker. this should give the victim ample time to recover what modules survived, unless of course they are ganked over and over again while trying to do so, eventually destroying every last bit of equipment...
you would think that this would eventually force pirates to go about their pirating in more respectable ways. sadly, i don't think that this tactic will die out, as quite a few players do it for fun, JUST to rain on everyone's parade... effing griefers...
piracy is part of the game, and it should be, but what's the point of calling 1.0 "secure" if it's no such thing?

I can see the crying now as regards the tagging. The kestral gimps will just gank the cans after they gank the industrail. Anyone that does this crap is nothing but a griefer anyway why stop at destroying the ship..I can see it now...(If I can't have it no one will).
my 2 cents

You guys sure cry alot. scout ahead to the gates instead of warping there blindly on autopilot. Between that and fitting extenders, hardners and a booster on your indy you should have no problem.
