I wanted to swap my current portrait with the one I have on an alt (see next post) but I heard that it only changes if you reinstall Eve, so if I changed no one but me will actually see the change. Is this true CCP? If so then you really should fix that, maybe make it update with the next available patch if you can't make it update irt. But it still seems odd that it doesn't update. Does this mean all the images for avatars are stored client side? I was unaware I had a bank of all 200,000 players avatars on my computer. _________

Yes the portraits are in your cache folder on the client side and anyone who has come across you and had you old portrait loaded will most likely still see it until they clear/delete their cache. I had a corp mate that changed his portrait and I still saw the old one for over a year until I had to replace my HD and reinstall eve.
There is a problem with your portrait swap though. To swap a portraits it has to be the same race, bloodline and gender. Your Wren char is a minmatar Vherokior and your Ikita char is a Gallente Gallente so you can't swap portraits with it. If you want a new portrait for Wren then you have to create another female Minmatar Vherokior char to swap portraits with. |

The swap is there to help you when you realize that the "uber-kewl" grimace-and-white-eyes look just isnt working for you.
However, its not designed to change sex or bloodline/race. The former because it might become silly, the latter because they are tied to stats.

I really don't see the reason why you shouldn't be able to change those things though. I doubt the PICTURE determines the attributes, as for gender swapping, well that already happens IRL with cases of gender identity disorder. I kinda doubt things like transexuals have vanished but with the Jove you never know.
besides I'm willing to PAY MONEY TO CHANGE IT. I think a lot more people would change their avis if they could change race/bloodline too. _________

Which I think is another reason CCP has it this way. If I remember correctly it can only be done at DT with a database edit to your chars and I am sure CCP doesn't want to have to be swapping hundreds of portraits every week. I am sure they have to swap enough as it is.

hundreds of times per week * 10 dollars per swap
