I am a 8 day old Caldari pilot, and I am looking for a good ship and setup for pirating? Any skill appropriate suggestions?

Can't anyone in your corp help you out ?
For ship. Get skill for caldari frigs to four. Try out a mwd rocket plated kestrel.
As for skills, the obvious ones, scramblers, webbers, rockets, plate, mwd and whatever helps you fit things on your ship, like seom weapon upgrades, electronics, engineering. . Bounty system

the problem with caldari ships especially the small ones, is the inability to run a good tank and have tackling gear. I'd advise you to shy away from solo work till you really know how to fly caldari ships effectively solo. Kestrel is ranked as one of the best frigates so id advise you to work with that. YOu wont be able to tank real well but you can bring some firepower to the table. The kestrel gets even better imo in small gangs of frigates, because you can fit a tank and do some dmg while the tacklers get to work. I dont have any setups for you but im sure the other players will be able to help you out

Hey bud. My best advice for when you're in a Crapacal... avoid Rifters.
Like I told you before, it can be tough to solo as a Caldari pilot due to heavy mid slot use for tank. You need to convince your Corp to come out in gangs with you so that you can provide that DPS/support while someone else worries about things like webs and points. Or, you need to find a new Corp.

I struggled when i started trying to PvP when i was a noob myself, I mangaged to get a kill with a Merlin, but that was another noob and mostly luck lol, as above scrams MWD are essentials, personaly the best advice i can give is to join a corp who have PvP to get started, or if ur lucky and can find a piracy corp willing to take u on, as the experience and teachings provide the most help. --------------------------- We Came...We Saw...We Kicked its ASS!!! |

Rocket kestrel is best in my opinion.
I go Rockets, shield tank, ballistic controls and anything else that will fit. Sure it can't scram anything but ive had enough kills in one solo to know that most people are stupid. :)
I'd even killed a caracal in one on a 1 day old caldari alt because they got stuck between some roids in a belt. That was a good day.

As an 8-day-old Caldari pilot, you haven't sunk many skillpoints yet into Caldari ships. Why not train to fly Minmatar ships or Gallente ships (what I did)? Both races manufacture ships that are superior at solo PvP. If you're flying in small gangs, Caldari ships really shine--but then your gangmates should be able to help you fit something out that enhances the gang overall.
I advise my corpmates who are new to PvP to go ahead and attack any Caldari T1 frigates, cruisers, and even battlecruisers they may find alone--if they get lucky, they get a nice kill; if not, chances are all they have to do is warp away.

honestly, you can pvp in anything caldari, im having trouble admitting this, but i lost a 400mm buffered rifter to a griffin not too long ago......half of it was i completely underestimated him, and thopught it would be an easy kill, granted he was about 3 or 4 months old at the time but still....furthermore, ive dodge tanked an incursus in a slasher....and got the kill....you can pvp in anything, and you are gonna lose alot of ships to pvp, so find something cheap that you enjoy pvping in, because no on e can tell y ou what your taste is going to be.

No one said you couldn't, but if you put a Pilot in a Merlin and pit him against an equally skilled pilot in a Rifter, the Rifter will have the better chance of winning.
