Would it not be great, if you could change the CPU of ships? The actual MAIN CPU? How about the Power Generator? The thing that gives the .. power to run other things? And what about the main primary propulsion?
Instead of using the slots we usually have.. would it not be better if we could have some ships where you can one or more CPUS, different size CPUs for different size ships? Same for the power generators and Propulsion systems?
This could really give ships that individual feel.
Oh and were we not to be able to PAINT our ships? Or colour them? Or be able to put on our own Logos, such as CORP logos?

The main primary Capacitator Systems should be able to be replaced and changed etc too.

I must admit, coming from Jumpgate - a game that had a rational power system - I dont understand the capacitor and powergrid interrelation in EvE.
Jumpgate had a ship construction model where there was an actual energy pipeline :- You started with a power plant that had an output in megawatts. Thrust would be generated by engines connected to that so that, at zero thrust, the energy usage of the engines was nill and the most energy would be available to the rest of the system.
Then in turn, various other devices that required constant power were connected, until the last device connected in series was a capacitor that charged up (or discharched when the system was overloaded) with any surplus energy left.
The capactor was then used for delivering bursts of high power into another circuit that ran the guns.
All of the devices had effiency ratings, and their operation could be understood by having a high school physics text book handy :)
This made for an interesting system where one could choose to use large capacitors with low effiencies, or small but highly efficient capacitors, and, given the particular power plant, mix and match the various other devices to make the most use of available power and balance the power delivered to each system to balance off thrust, shield charge rate or firing rate.
EVEs powergrid by contrast is frankly dull. the capacitor charge rate is constant regardless of avialable surplus power, the cap, powerplant and engine cannot be swapped out for units with different effiencies - the engine in fact seems to use no power at all. Oh well. Its really such a small thing.

I agree. I liked the system Jumpgate had in place. You could overload it, but still function to some degree. And it created a market for core ship components.

dont tease!!!
that would eb a dream come true for me in eve.
if we had the structure (shape of ship/hull) which had cubic vulume you could put everything else into.
CPU - Main Power, Capacitors, weapon bays (high slots), energy bays (med and low), sensors, engines, etc..
drool :) -----

yeah, thats something I really miss, Total control of power distribution on you ship. I been gettin a itch to go back for the trial period time just to get in the*****pit again...Kinda miss it all and the head to head combat.

I like it.
I am Jack's broken moral compass. I am Jack's STILL trapped in eve limbo. maybe not for much longer... |

Jumpgate ... sounds SWEET!! Obviously, people would be worried about Noobs making ugly looking unflyeable Beasts, so there would have to be a skill level of Mechanic you need to get onto this Advance thing, so that this basic implementation remains till you get the know how, or something along those lines to solve the problem of being too complex to some. I LOVE the Jumpgate Idea though :D

Heh - actually as i recall it was a bit of a problem with newbies upgrading their ships with, what turned out to be the incorrect chouce, and then launching and wondering why their radar turned off when they exceeded 60% max thrust.

It would be such a much better system, one that made more logical sense. To have Slots Specific for Shields, Slots Specific For Armour, Slots Specific for Engines, CPU, PowerCore, Propulsion, etc, etc.

Lol Would be great, but a thing like that would either be heaven sent or another game. I doubt CCP will take their time to make a extreme improvement such as this. Heh also it could make people more unique in their own fashion, Yeh modules do help us customize our ships, but lets get real. We want to get our hands dirty in the core of our ship not just add on bell and whistles like a mister potato head.

I've been wanting this too, it'll make ships really unique. but it'll be weird to have a cruiser configured to go 5km/s when frigates can only put in systems that let them move much slower. But I like the idea of making y ship unique :)
