After reading a few threads in here that simply say, "fix this" with no explanation of what's wrong, or any way to fix it, or any reason why it needs to be fixed, etc. I propose we have an official format for threads here, so that people who are not familiar with things can simply read the OP and understand the details. I propose something like this (Ver. 1.0)
Quote: Issue: Very brief, just covering as specifically as possible, what issue you are bringing up (i.e. The Forum Quality, BACON and other log server using programs, Creation of a stock market, etc)
Why it needs attention: This is where you describe in as much detail as you can, why something is broken, out of date, exploitative, etc. Point out what's wrong and why it's wrong, and how it messes things up in it's current form. Also anything else it affects either directly, or indirectly.
How to fix it: This is kind of optional, maybe you realize there's a problem, but you can't think of any way to fix it. If you do have some kind of solution, put it here and describe why it is a good solution, and how it fixes the issue at hand
Side effects: also optional, if you have a solution, and there are possible side effects, direct or indirect, positive or negative, those will go here.
Impotance level: And as an assister to the /signed button, to get an impression of how big or small an issue is, we should have a little scale to try and sort thru by that. Since I've done helpdesk work, I already know that this will lead to everyone labeling every issue as 10/10 importance, but it should help a little bit at the very least.
I would very much like everyone's input on this (especially CCP and the CSM, since they are the ones that are going to be sifting thru all this stuff) Any improvements that can be made on it, and even simple spelling corrections would be nice to be pointed out, as it's nearly midnight and I'm typing as I think I suck at forums |

Clarity is goooooood.
Structure is goooooood.
Along with eliminating the need for /signed posts, i support this CSM proposal improvement. |

This - and more - is direly needed to make this board work.
At the moment, the board is topped by so zany ideas that are bound to fall to page two within a few hours, an issue of little impotance but much debate and several badly worded suggestions that might have merit if someone made the effort to edit them a little. This isn't working, because - few people will object ot an issue they don't much care about (so it will still receive great support ratio) - few people are going to support an issue that need being looked into but is provided with a suggested solution that they don't agree with - few people are going to post a new thread for an issue already covered by another (albeiot badly worded) thread - some people will double-post issues that are similar but whose intentions are not compatible
This forum doesn't just need a couple of markers for CSM members and a thread template but some kind of moderation to enforce the rules and make this really work
I really like the "impotence level" idea. Impotence should always be considered and is not the black/white issue it is widely seen as, so levels are greatly appreciated :D
