Which of these ships would you use?
Harbinger, Zealot, any of the Amarr BSs.
I can pretty much completely t2 fit all of them, got ok fitting skills.(AWU3, E/E5) And, I definitely need a cloak on.
I was thinking about Harbinger, but how does a Harby fare against Guristas considering that Amarr already does low dmg against Guristas?
Answers and suggestions, most welcome

Geddon with wasps... I'd even consider fitting hybrids or projectiles to get some kinetic/thermal damage. Guristas and EM don't really mix.

Nothing wrong with going with projectile on amarr ships but if you do, for the love of god go with the abaddon and not a ship with 2 bonuses aligned for lasers.
By the sound of it, you'll be ratting, in which case tank is more or less useless. Hence the geddon with 3 Heat sinks, 3 propulsion mods a medium repper and a harderner or CPR is plenty. And as poster above stated wasp drones. You even got a utility slot for that cloak of yours. Go with pulses and MF/Scorch

Reason for drone choice was, so that I'll have a pack of faster drones for small frigs. When I rat, I usually don't bother with looting unless it is a faction spawn, so I didn't put a tractor there.

Well, if you're skilled up for HACs, why not go with a Sacrilege? It can deal any damage type you like and it comes in black.

Ye I know, but that's my problem, I don't have missile skills trained :( I'll start training them after I am done with a few more support skills, but for now, sacrilege is out of question for me.

Right, I'd just use a full out gankageddon then. MWD, megapulse, wasps. Chasing guristas is going to suck though, this is kind of a lose-lose situation.

You are well aware that it's not a good idea to fight guristas with lasers for they have high base resists against you, and you have low against them?

yeah I am. But, Amarr is all I have for ratting. And, Guristas are the rats where my home is. So, what am I gonna do?

It would really be worth it to train up Hybrid skills if you intend to stay in Gurista space. For each level Amarr has a ship which doesn't offer brilliant bonuses to Energy Weapons (only giving 10% reduction in cap up to 50% at level V, if you go that far) - the Punisher frigate, Maller cruiser, Prophecy battlecruiser and Abaddon battleship. These four ships will probably do the best armed with Hybrid (or Projectile) weapons, and their other bonus, the armour resistance, works regardless of what weapons you use.
If it's only a temporary measure, then by all means stick to the lasers, but if you aren't going to move, use a Prophecy (it's much cheaper than a Harbinger) or Abaddon and hit the Guristas hard with Hybrid weapons. You only need Small Hybrid III to get Medium Hybrid for the Prophecy. All other Gunnery skills apply equally to Hybrids as they do to Energy weapons.

I just want to warn you that if you try to mwd and chase rats and then melt through their high resits with pulse while tanking dmg your cap WILL NOT HOLD OUT, I tried it... the 3x bs spawns with cruise missles will eat you alive.
Geddon in turtle mode with wasps is your best bet... train for projectiles or rails... it is what i had to do when i first started playing 0.0 and was in your situation. ------- I am the King of Rome and above grammar. |

I used a beam geddon for a while in place of my mega, got sick of moving the ammo, it worked reasonably well too but you'll need your amarr skills maxed to make any real headway and you'll still be slower than a mega would be.
imo sac would be the way to go although a deimos will do 700-800 dps (1.5mil for that damage implant ) rat specific damage with rat specific tank and really wont take alot longer to train for, perhaps less if you're gunnery's good. I make 35-40mil an hour in a -7 system in mine but i've got a slightly daft friend who fitted his for 920 dps, poor rats... ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

apock should be able to fit 2 cruize lunchers wich r good for kinetick damage + 6 tachyons
with gedon go with pulses
also try damnation; can fit 1 cruze luncher and 4 heavys with bonoses.
But anyway against Guristas u r not really good, any caldari noob in raven can kill them better so think about dedicating 14 days for rating raven. _________________________________________

Just training heavy missiles 1 would probably be better than going at it with lasers. Since you're Caldari you'd also already have a couple missile skills from creation if you went military, so it should only take a day if that to get into them.

Are you serious about this....? I have 5m SPs in gunnery and 200K in missiles....and I'd be better off with missiles against Guristas than with lasers? Thats a bit of a disappointment if it is true

Thanks for all the other suggestions. I do not really want to spend my time training other weapon systems at the moment. I think I'll up my missile and drone skills a bit to use sacrilege or for better efficiency with Wasps, would help my malediction as well while at it

3 weeks for t2 HAMS isnt too long a wait
Zealot should do fine vs belt spawns, its not like they're tanked that much - if 150dps kinetic breaks them, 500dps emp/therm will do it jus as well

ergh i can make a dmg harbinger with a 9.0 dmg modifier on laser only problem is thats for pvp not for missioning so in your place id probablly go for a zealot or a geddon with wasps zealot is powerfull enough to eat any thing and ..it has small signature radius ..so u get hit for less dmg with missiles ^^

Came up with this setup yesterday, and actually fitted it to try it out vs. Guristas:
Large Armor Repairer II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II Capacitor Power Relay II Capacitor Power Relay II
100MN MicroWarpdrive II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
7x Mega Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I, Multifrequency L 1x Small Tractor Beam I
3x Capacitor Control Circuit I
5x Wasp or 4x Wasp + 5x Hornet II for those pesky scramming frigates
Tanks easily 3x Usurper, while out-damaging the Apocalypse. With BS V and decent (ok, mine are nearly perfect) cap skills you perma-run it. That's why you sacrifice some DPS for named turrets instead of T2 (along with better fitting). You can do it easily with Dual Heavy Pulses II too, loosing some dps but gaining better tracking and cap-usage with lower costs + very easy fitting.
Unless you get T2 Cruise and at least Caldari BS IV, you won't seriously out-perform it. The torp raven on the other hand rocks IMHO, tho it requires more (!!!! lol) cap-micromanagement. Remember to fit a TP in the Torp raven. Join the Biggest Greek Corp! www.Mythos-eve.com - Join Mythos Channel in game! |

Guerista Geddon:
7* Megapulse AB, 2* Cap Recharger LAR, 2* Kin hardener, 2* Therm hardener, 33* Capo power relay
4* Wasp, 5* small drone
In vanilla T1 with ym skills back then it was able to takle 1.2 mill BS spawns.. with T2/best named, lots more. Just charge close and kill.
T2 Tank + Modulated megapulses = win against 1.8 mill tripple spawns. (BS skill at 4, large guns at 4, support skills 3-4, energy and armor tank skills high, 4-5)

This is def. one way to look at it, unless you are lucky enough to be ratting in a system with 40+ belts.
Only thing worse than ratting guristas with amarr is ratting angels. Boring in both ways, perfect resists on both sides. A whole lot of shooting, and a whole lot of nothing happening. At least lasers dont use ammo beyond cap.
Sac is love for amarr only fliers in various parts of the universe. And yes, it takes far less SP in missiles to be effective in PVE then gunnery. Plus no tracking issues, and the rats never go fast enough for speed penalties to come into play.
Originally by: Meridius Dex I could actually fit a Thorax WITH LASERS and get better DPS, better speed, better tank and - wait for it - better cap stability
