I was curious if people have any insight into how much warp scrambling strength missions gankers and pirates usually pack? Is one warp core stabilizer typically adequate defense against getting scrammed, or is two stabs a minimum? Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I recommend flying with a full low rack of WCS. Then when you die, you can at least say "it was a traveling fit" and retain a shred of dignity. If you just fit one or two WCS, it'll be discovered through your killmail, and then you'll be a laughingstock.
A better way to avoid being scrambled would be to zap your attacker with heavy neuts, or to ECM him in the face.

I am asking more in the interest of protecting against getting ganked while running lvl 4 missions in .4 space. fitting a full low rack of warp stabs isn't practical if I am trying to run missions. I was simply trying to figure out if the small defense offered by one warp stab is at all worth it or if I should just not bother? It sounds like I shouldn't even bother. any more insight?

Those modules are meant to sign ones death . If you cannot neut or ecm or fight back . Then you are a flying corpse already. And yes, boost amarr . Tired of playing with laser toyguns. |

Edited by: Tintifish on 25/05/2008 20:06:22 I wouldnt bother, avoid using drones and you are nigh on impossible to scan out. Just keep an eye on the scanner and cloak or dock if a probe comes on scan. You might want to fit WCS for travelling between systems to do missions, however.
Oh, and answering your origional question, most ships will pack a point each as so few people use wcs other than travelling now. So if youre hit solo, 1 will protect you, if youre hit by a gang you wont stand a chance.

Pros will grab you with an Arazu with 4 point and shortly after a HIC will take over scrambling.
One could save you from the amateurs.

Don't fly with WCS. Fly smart. If you're on your game, you'll never be ganked in a mission. To the question, however, there really isn't a "safe" number. In my gangs, it's basically mandatory to fit a disruptor to your ship, so depending on the size of the gang you're up against, you could slip by with one, or be absolutely screwed with three. Thus, the advice: fly smart. . . .

Infinite. Stabs only serve to forfeit your chance to defend yourself.
*edit* what the crap , why is "Kraut" censored ?

Edited by: Warrio on 26/05/2008 01:43:43 Every stab you fit is 1 stab closer to death.
Warp Core Stabilisers Pros: Make you feel safe. Cheap. Take up fitting slots so you don't have to worry about other mods.
Cons: You take longer to complete missions as you could fit damage mods there instead. Will be unable to lock attacking ships in a reasonable time if attacked by pirates. Makes ship less able to tank due to lack of low slots. If I had your pod pointed after killing your ship and we negotiated a ransom but I saw a WCS on your KM, I'd kill you anyway as any self respecting griefer should do. Make you a terrible person. Prevents your parents from loving you. Makes you unworthy of love in general. Increases unemployment and economic instability in your country. Prevents your children from becoming educated. Leads to long term sexual dysfunction. and of course... Causes cancer.
Hope this helped.

Offensive to Germans, I guess . . . but it's such an archaic term that it has nearly lost all its pejorative teeth. I don't see why it's necessary for the language filters to catch that.

Because it's so offensive to us germans, your bypassing of the profanity filter made me cry and cut my wrists. Oh, and I'll be sure to ask our sexy chancellor to wardec you cheesy french fries before I'm finally dry.
Seriously, to the OP, no WCS on mission ships, most of the time, they just don't work out the way you plan to. If you really want to not get ganked (which I don't approve of), use your brain and scanner.

if you want to be somewhat safe in losec missions just fit sensor boosters and don't use shield extenders; this will make you very hard to scan. Also move away from the warp in asap and stay aligned, kill scramming rats first. wcs will just prolong your time in the mission which is counterproductive.

arrghh omg
NO NO NO sensor boosters make no effect, they boost your scan resolution. To be hard to detect you need higher sensor strenght, in other words ECCM.
1 ECCM in a BS and in dead space you are almost undetectable, problem is they can still see your drones and other stuff. ------------------------------------------------- If brute force doesn't solve your problem... you are not using enough
