How many times have you sent your hauler alt 40 jumps across space to realise you can't contract your precision ship over because one of your drones has 1% armor damage?
I propose a solution, that makes sense! Contracting damaged items should be possible as long as the following requirements are met:
1. The contract is an 'Item Exchange' 2. The contract is to a private character, ie: contracted to one specific person 3. The contract has no payment required, ie: you are exhanging items/modules/ships for 0 isk, a clean transfer.
If all requirements are met then the chosen item can be contracted over without an issue. This would make EVE life a little less taxing on the minds of those who have incredibily spread out ships, with damaged drones, or modules (seeing how overheating is popular now this will be more and more popular).
In no way should a damaged item be sold over the market, or sold via contract in this matter. I am merely suggesting that if the cost to accept the contract is 0 isk then it may proceed. |

or if the station has repair facilities the cost of repair should be added to the contract.

Never.
Keeping my drones in shape is a habit I acquired early on. It's a bigger issue for amarr players since crystals are pretty much damaged by default.

Though this will not make Prism X happy, it would make many players much happier. I think it's possible, as fitted, rigged ships can be contracted, as can undamaged but unpackaged items (unlike the market).
It might have at some point been in order to prevent selling damaged items for full price. In the case of ships, we now have remote hull reps, so you can indeed (though I don't envy you the task) rep that burning Freighter up without spending billions to do so. As for Crystals, we now have the market to trade faction ammunition, and it only accepts undamaged goods.
Admittedly, one could take a Providence, full HG Slaves, a 5% hull implant and an Akemon and blast it to 1% structure and sell it, but that requires quite a bit of preparation It can also be worked around by allowing us to pick whether stations repair hull or armor first, in this case repping the armor and structure back to positive would allow undocking to be remote repped.
If this cannot be done, I suggest two alternatives: 1. Allow the use of repair facilities at range, and ensure all stations have repair bays. 2. Allow us to destroy damaged items in a ship at range (this includes crystals). -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |

that isn't a bad idea, since the crystals are damaged as soon as you use them.

not being able to contract stuff across to friends because it has damaged crystals/drones in cargo/bay is a real pain.

Completely agree as long as the conditions in the OP are kept to. Or the cost of the repair bill in-station is added to the contract.

I'm in for this idea, the problem ofcourse would be that people could contract a damaged battleship or say carrier, and it would cost a lot to fix that (unless ofcourse you own the station or use armor/hull reps) but putting the damage on the contract should resolve that problem.

The original postar said contracts with no counter payment, ie you didn't pay for the ship, don't look a gift horse in the mouth..

To clarify, this method is meant for gifts or free trades. I'm starting to grow keen of the idea of adding on the cost to repair, however this could be bad as well. Even though it is unusual ship damage can be fixed through time and the use of modules versus the spending of isk.
I propose a change, possibly add a clause to the contract stating the cost of repairs and the fact that the item needs to be repaired, but not to actually add the cost onto creating the contract. That way the receiver will know how much it will cost to repair BEFORE (keyword) accepting the contract.
PS: then again if someone contracted me a free Carrier with 500m in isk (lets say)hull damage, I'd still take it.
