Can someone shed a little light on this subject? I see that eve has an extensive market, but what I was wondering is what drives this market? For example letĘs say I read in the eve news that there is a slave rebellion in a specific system. Will the price for goods that could aid in the rebellion go up in that system? Or is demand based on just what other players want to buy. If this is the case why would anyone want to buy quafe for example can anyone help me grasp the market concept of this game Please?

they market seems to be mainly player driven, but there are some npc corps that buy things ie trade goods, this will help give u some trade routes to try if your inclined to do so. i have found the trade routes to be a waste of time unless your buying low from one player and selling high to another. the market on eve is about as close to a real market as a game coulp possibly be imho. the best advice i can give about the market, use the table not the map in the advanced market. tomw _______________________________________________

Idiots
Idiots drive the market of eve. Whether it be the seller or buyer side, its always the idiots that drive the market. -----

Well, idiots or geniouses, who knows? I dont think anyone can make the difference. I remember seeing some time ago somebody buying ion thrusters for 5k. I was like "W00000t???", wtf is he thinking? Suffice to say, in a few days he bough thousands of pieces, even delivered to his station. I think most of the traders were delivering to him. Result: Now ion thrusts sell from 15 to 20k, and that guy has quadrupled his money.
Inside information? very good guess? a hunch? Whatever his incentive was, he just owned us all.

Ofcourse we always have the idiots in marketplaces, e.x. the lamers counter-bidding for .01 isk (or even 1 isk for a 20k item, if they feel generous) all the time, as if they expect something out of it.

Money comes into the game in various ways: NPC Hunting,Insurance and selling minerals and goods to NPCs.
Money is taken from the game in various ways: Purchasing from NPCs and insurance.
Money is then used as a medium of exchange. Players set up Buy orders and Sell Orders.
People with little cash tend to satisfy/sell to other peoples Buy orders and buy from other peoples Sell Orders.
Richer people tend to do the opposite since they can set up very large and profitable Buy and Sell Orders a rich person can for example set up Buy/ Sell orders for the same commodity simulatenously using economies of scale to profit. Minerals that are bought enmasse are also used for profitable manufacture of goods which are then sold on the market.
And that basically is a small look at how the player economy works.
Now go forth and earn a 1B. (IE the rough amount of money that can create a carebear Battleship PvPer) :)
