Howdy all,
My friends and I are getting a little more into pirating, and I was looking for opinions on what the best three man T1 cruiser gang would be. We're looking for lots of practice, so disposable cruiser setups are welcome. We all have a fair number of skillpoints [about 13-17 million each], so T2 can be used where necessary.
Cheers, and thanks for the input.

Blackbird is a no-brainer.
The other two can basically be whatever DPS cruiser suits you best, although you may want to have one fitted for tackle. |

As already said for T1 BB is a given. Celestis can make it even more impossible for stuff to lock you and can actually get out some pretty good dps and then whichever damage dealing cruiser you fancy.

heh if one of you can fly a falcon I would take that over the bb any day, it should live long enough to pay for its self. that is unless you jump into damn well set up camps, or find an apoc with eccm and tachyons.
*note to self* fit eccm and tachyons and sit 200km off the warp in point of a belt in lowsec *note to self*

Blackbirds are disgustingly cheap at the moment (2.5m for hull) and you can fit one out for 6m or so and have enough left to tack on a cheap Thermal Resist rig. |

a rook makes more sense imo has better strentgh.
I general Ewar is I win button when used probally.
I would go with something like BB, Maller and a Thorax with med blasters. CAuse i see when you go for two EW ships in a three men combination you might run intro troubble with the dps and that ppl are able to tank you.

I'd personally go with 3 Thoraxes, 3 Ruptures, 3 Arbirators or heck 2 caracals and a blackbird or tackler.

Thanks for the input guys.
A triple thorax gang sounds particularly deadly. I was thinking full neutron gank with ECM drones. That's like adding an extra blackbird to the gang
Unfortunately we have one Amarr/Minmatar pilot who can't fly a rax. My other m8 and I are both blaster and drone specced, though.

I'd consider this kinda 3 man gang:
A blackbird as ewar support (of course)
Thorax as faster Tackle
Maller as heavy tackle incase the thrax has to warpout...

If you guys can fly Recons/HAC's...mix and match.
"One Arazu to scram them.... One Pilgrim to suck them dry... And a Rapier to bind 'em"
Yummy yummy yummy
Three T1 cruisers will probably get you blobbed off a random gate. Pay peanuts...get monkey ****
Three Recons will give you hours of entertainment. And kills. With YOU in total control of who/when/where you engage.
Two Recons and a covops.....best!

Thing is with cruisers, you can't really tank em well without gimping the rest of the setup. Definitely do 3x ruppie or 3x thorax with ecm drones, or if you really wanna play safe, 1x bb 2x nano arby with t2 hammerheads.

Arby + 2x rupture could work well , got the extra dps to break some tanks without exposing themselves too much (fight at the edge of web range , needs good manual flying skills though)
3x ion rax would be good when you're not dealing with hugely damaging targets.

He asks for T1 cruisers - plz read the OP's question before posting...it's a no-brainer that a Rook or falcon >> BB, but plz...
The 3x Thorax with ECM drones plan sounds fine - if you are all Gallente speced pilots. Yet for a 3 man gank, jumping on 1-2 targets dps is fine with 2x thoraxes. Bring a BB instead.

For your Minmatar pilot, take a look at speed fitting a Stabber and making it your tackle ship. Won't catch frigs or intys, but will tackle bigger ships. Just a thought.

I'd definitely go with a Blackbird as one of the cruisers. Remember to stick at range and don't waste all the jammers on a single target.
If you later take a liking to piracy and decide to go on to more expensive ships, he'll feel at home in a Falcon later on ;)
The blackbird not just for ensuring your cruisers don't get beat down but as a escape option, as it's a matter of time before you get blobbed / trapped somewhere and a jamming BB could very well get you all out to safety.
After that, you want two gank cruisers. People may or may not have support so you do want to kill your target as fast as possible, scoop loot and get ready to gtfo - the faster you kill someone, the less chances he has of dragging in his mates. The two best options would imo be the Thorax and the Rupture - the Ruptures would probably be best with a 800 plate / gank fit (220s+hams+2 gyros), Thoraxes in gank fits as well.
I'd probably use ECM drones on the gank cruisers, as that too contributes to your total ECM power when in a tougher fight or when you need to get out quick (the two Thoraxes with ECMs alone will jam a BC fairly reliably), but damage drones to maximise your DPS are a good bet too. Depends on what you want really.
I'd go with at least one Rupture, though, because its ability to hit outside of webrange is rather important. If given the choice, I'd go with two Ruptures. Plus, they're faster ;)
Drone ships (Arbitrator/Vexor) also do decent DPS and are valid choices.

Get one of the gallente pilots to train for Amarr Cruisers and Tracking Disruptors (shouldn't take that long), then try
- Rupture - Thorax - Arbitrator
Bring ECM drones and use them when needed. This team should have pretty decent ewar and damage capabilities.
Blackbird as escape option? For a gang of T1 cruisers? lol...
