I'm new to EVE and would greatly appreciate some advice on how I could better equip my Gallente Destroyer for PvE.
My "Catalyst Mark I" has the following:
High Slot:
Small Plasma Smart Bomb I (Range 0-3km)
3 125mm Railgun I (Range 3-14km)
2 150mm Railgun I (Range 14-27km)
(The following additions are being trained for)
Small Tractor Beam I
Salvager I
Medium Slot:
Micro Capacitor Battery I
Cap Recharger I
Low Slot:
Small Armor Repairer II
Adapative Nano Plating I
Power Diagnostic System I
I believe I did a very OK job of equiping it for now.. any comments would be appreciated. Also I AM expecting to be called a moron or a nub cake so shoot away!

Here goes..
Drop the battery, the power diagnostic, the adaptive nano plating and the smartbomb. Decide on one kind of rails to use, considering your skills you will most likely be using the 125mm ones.
Then go with something like this:
8x 125mm Railgun I(Or best named you can afford)
1x Cap Recharger I
1x 1MN Afterburner I
1x Small Armor Repairer
2x Specific harderners(or 1x and 1x Magnetic Field Stabilizer)
If you're tight on skills go with the 2 cap recharger idea. Make sure to always carry a appropiate light drone.
If you want to salvage, keep a catalyst with 4 tractors, 4 salvagers and an mwd and AB around. You'll do 95% of the things oh so much faster.

Interesting and I appreciate the input. However wouldn't going back to hop in a "Salvaging Catalyst" waste time and money? Especially on missions that are 2 jumps or more away from your Station.

I used something similar to what NoNah posted.
Now I was playing with this:
H: 7x 125mm Railgun I + 1x Salvager I
M: 1x Harmonic Warp Jammer + 1x Stasis Web
L: 1x Small Armor Repairer I + 1x 100mm nano plate + 1x Warp Core Stabilizer
Drone: 1x Hobgoblin
Just to do some ratting in low sec and see if I can learn something... 
But the catalyst's a nice and cheap ship to do some ratting in low sec, really.

salvaging the lower level missions is a waste of time anyway.
