More and more alliances are requiring limited API keys from their members. I consider this a bit intrusive and would like to see an API key that only gives access to determine the alliance and corporation of a character. This key could be freely given out and integrated into forum and voice communications software for the sole purpose of verifying that a user is really in the alliance.

You mean like clicking Show Info on the character? I really fail to see the purpose of an API key for this. I'd agree with a more general form of API customization, but this specific one seems useless. ------------------ Fix the forums! |

You miss the point. "Show info" has nothing to do with it. What I am describing is an API key that you can give out which will only show your corp/alliance. It is not intended to be something that a human would look at. It would be used to cross-reference a forum or vent account to a valid Eve user. I bring this up because there are a lot of people out there who don't like the idea of sharing their skill sheet and wallet balance with their alliance.

I have always thought alliances asking for API keys was suspicious to be honest, not that it affects me but I know it does affect a lot of people, so supported. -------------------------------------------------------------- Seriously, we need some kind of separation between the post and signature. There you go. Now that wasn't so hard |

Or an API key with definable settings.
Such as you generate the key, then open up a Key settings page and have a variety of checkboxes, such as:
□ Allow access to skill information □ Allow access to assets □ Allow access to wallet □ Allow access to character name and corporation information □ etc.
