Fine. We have 150 km turrets to protect the gates from PK gankers. So now I'm getting ganked by CCP instead. Why?
****y lil' pirate opens fire on me, I respond but I hit the gate for 0.0 damage instead of the pirate. Instant-gank by turrets. Thanks a lot CCP for completely stupid, harsh punishment of something that did no harm.
Had the ****y lil pirate not been around, I wound never have activated my gun.
WHAT IS THE **** POINT OF THE INFESTATIONS? To make people make mistakes and have their ships blown up under them by CONCORD?
Question:
Why are you punishing simple mistakes so brutally? I did no damage to the gate, I did stop my attack once I saw the "0.0 damage to stargate"
Why can a player target and attack a stargate, a station? Whats the use for it except getting himself ganked by turrets and concord?
Whats the harm in fining a player some ISK for disturbance of public order instead of taking away their possesions? I'd almost rather have PK'ers gate ganking me than being done over by CCP AI.
Why can't you make a "Do you want to attack this CONCORD ship?" (or other brutal npc corp ships/possesions) dialog? I turned off the general attack warning dialog a long while ago, because when you're out in a belt and figthing rats, you DONT HAVE TIME for stupid popup boxes asking silly questions over and over.
It should be obvious that no player wishes to kill himself by attacking heavily guarded - and invincible - structures. It should not be a mistake that can be made that easily.

Edited by: Shadow Raver on 05/05/2004 09:25:45 well you can target and shoot gates cause later we can build our own gates. dont know why it aitn turned of i empire cause its simply no use in targeting and shooting at a gate/station/billboard and sentry in empire. but sentrys are supposed to be destroyable i think. but the other ones are just plain stupied to be able to lock and shoot at in empire
it sounds kinda easy to fix just make 0.5-1.0 systems structures not targetable When The Man Behind The Blade Comes You Will Feel Pain |

Not shootable rather. I did use the targetting to measure distance to the gate without having to keep the mouse hovered over it all the time. I guess I'll have to stop doing that.
Just make indestructable structures un-shootable without warning at least. A differetn warning than the general "do you want to initiate hostile" something warning.

I cant understand why the sentries and CONCORD wont attack the NPC rats, as they are 'WANTED' by CONCORD. They dont even defend innocent travelers from them.
Personally i think CONCORD must be on the take from all the criminal organisations, how else can it afford all these uber ships that the empires cant?

I suppose it's for realism. Just like there are no safe areas where it's physically impossible to attack other players, you can also shoot at gates and stations even if you can't destroy them or take them over.
But the pirate infestations are stupid... how come they can attack us and we can attack them within sentry range, yet attacking another player gets you ganked by the guns?
Oh, and there's no reason to target the gate either, so don't do it.

I can relate man.
I was helping a friend mine in a secure system and I happened to be in my Scorpion at the time. I launched a heavy missile at an NPC spawn (since I had two launchers on-board anyway) and at the same time he launched a light drone. His light drone happened to fly directly into the flight path of my missile and CONCORD chased me all around the system and eventually took my ship.
Ridiculous stuff. HIS drone happened to fly infront of my already launched missile, and I lose all the time and effort invested into a battleship.
Sigh. |

again: most ppl lose more ships to concord than to player pirates.
we need flexible police response, no stupid range increases.

Edited by: Feta Solamnia on 06/05/2004 11:01:14 You forgot that many ppl lately use small ships like the usual small-time rats, targeting you at gates and expecting you to fire at them... I dont know if this works, but i bet ppl that even bother to shoot at gate rats dont check the name, they just see the icon and shoot.

Good post, and I agree. Here's another idea.
Since the Gates are invincible, just make it so that acts of aggression against them don't trigger a CONCORD response...
So you can fire cruise missles at the gate all day for a week, if you want, and CONCORD will just ignore you.
It is like a guy walking up to a building and kicking it, and the police GUNNING HIM DOWN for "acts of aggression" against the building.
Since these things can't be damaged, just make it so that CONCORD ignores us.
It really sucks to have missles go off, or not to be able to use smartbombs near gates/turrets because they'll go wacky on you.
Just stop the madness.

My, even someone like me, who's only been playing 2 months, has had the idea of "hiding" at a stargate and lock/shoot someone to see if they're stupid enough to shoot back and hit the gate instead of me. Live with it, you committed an act of aggression against an Empire Structure, you get ganked by Concord. Such is life. _________________________ Ain't no mountain high enough |

Concord doesnt respond if you attack a stargate, only when you attack (or splash) another person.
That and stargates "shouldnt" be effected by splash damage, should only respond when you splash the actual turrets.
Seems a few bugs are reappearing.

I miss targeted once and hit the gate with my tiny lil railgun and I was uber ganked by the sentries... And since they are run by CONCORD... I was uber ganked by CONCORD.... --- In the end nothing else matters... |

That's easily exploitable. Launch a torpedo at the jumpgate, use the non-agression splash damage to nuke anybody coming through. I don't think that would work. |

If you throw a brick through a window with the police standing beside you, do you not think they would respond?

I've been here since June, and I've never lost a ship to Concord or sentry guns.
Only careless people lose ships to Concord, period.
Don't use missiles or smartbombs in >0.5 or near sentries in Empire space.
If someone targets you at a gate in Empire space, don't shoot. Run away, let the sentries do their job, let Concord kill them. DO NOT PANIC AND SHOOT BACK! I've seen it happen, and there have always been griefers who do this, but you have to be stupid to fall for it.

How can you whine about this? This should teach you a lesson. In empire space know what your target is before you shoot. And to the guy with the scorp....that is what you get for firing missiles when mining. Just because you guys are not careful and do not take the time to make sure who your target is or where you are shooting doens't mean ccp should change the game for you. Learn to play the game and quit whining about your own mistakes.... the BIG L Public Relations Director of Extintion Enterprizes |

Yeah the concord simply put is stupid !!
I was out doing my usual mission today, happily firing my missiles at the npcs when from out of nowhere a battleship warps infront of me, and the missiles that I have already launched was blocked by this monstrosity.
We pretty much know what happens after that- Your security status has been blah blah blah - then Concord pwns you.
There should be a threshold somewhere to prevent these things from happening. Its just now fair.

Couldn't agree more. CCP realy need to look into this and give players a break.
A few blasts of a sentry gun across the bow or fining players instead of insta-death imho is a much more appropriate penalty... if players prolong their attack on such structures then yes, by all means, send in Concord.
The way sentires and Concord work atm remind me too much of insta-ganking guards in Ultima Online - one of the most irritating and immersion-killing aspects of any MMORPG.
