I just looked on CCP's official Item Database (on this very site), and I could not find the stats for the Black Ops ships.
Have they not yet been released? Are they a future patch? Or ... is this item database hopelessly outdated...
If it is the latter... ah... why? I can't wait to hear the excuse for this one...

CCP for some reason seems to be full of developers that can't be arsed into proper distribution of information to their players. This lack of proper descriptions, or actual documentation of game behavior is common with CCP.
When it comes down to it from the consumers perspective it absolutely screams incompetence, negligence and laziness.
...it's what you come to expect from EvE developers. They always miss the ******* obvious. ------------------------------------------------- **** You're out of your mind!

I am not actually trolling. This is a legit question and statement. WHY can't they be bothered to have an up-to-date item database. There really does not seem to be a single good reason I can think of why they couldn't/wouldn't.

It's Black Ops. Perhaps they are so secret that they dont appear anywhere?
Yes the Item DB pages on the website are usually outdated (sadly). The Ships themselves however are in game.

This. For the longest time I used to believe that the Adv Learning skills required the basic skills trained up to level 5. Why did I think that? Cuz I read it in the item database. Imagine my embarassement when I found out the truth. Was a good lesson to always check EVERYTHING in game.
The item database is worthless. Since CCP cannot be arsed to update it on a consistent basis, they should just remove it completely. Or vend it out to a third party who can handle such a complex task.

They're not updating the stuff on the site, because there will be an ingame wiki for all of this.

(not a personal attack, unless you are a Dev hiding in an alt ) Ok, but I spoke to some buddies who have been in since '03 ... and they say the same thing. The damn thing has NEVER worked!
So how long, exactly, does a wiki take to make?

I have heard some developers leave details out and make the players find out for themselves. Part of the challenge type thing.
Fine by me, but after 6 or so months after something is introduced, it would be nice to see the real deal, rather than the half-boiled truths oozing out of player guesses. Some wrong information takes years to erase simply because there is no authoritative confirmation of speculative guessing.
Instead new players get hit with all kinds of conflicting advice, making the game appear hopelessly confusing and hard to learn. In-game, official wiki would be super. -Old and in the way . . Shine up the Mod's bullet before you let them carry it in their shirt pocket :) |

Nice idea, but what does an in-game wiki have to do with a website that is used OUT-of-game? |

The wiki should be a resource available both in and out of game. It's also taking forever to get finished.

At a guess, the forums and website were coded early on by one of their main programmers, who is probably responsible for far too many things. It probably requires effort from him, to do a database update.
I wish that this was not so obvious from looking at the company for which I work.

Why assume it ever will be finished? It's gonna be outdated at best. And its part of the charm because Eve is a game for nerds (by nerds) anyway.

yeah i just evemon's built-in item/skill database instead, it's not only more up-to-date, but also contains more details, as well as being highly interactive and much easier to use. ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |

You know if they fixed this someone would moan that they were wasting time that could be better spent making new ships or new missions or whatever instead of wasting their time on the itemdb.
People never happy.
