Hiya everyone, I've been thinking about this kinda hard and I honestly can't think of any reasons why not to do it. I'm hoping that one of you might be able to spot a flaw with this plan.
I am looking to begin POS mining and material reactions, along with a few other people. Obviously, T2 components are worth more than advanced materials, are worth more than raw materials...etc. If possible, we would like to go as far up that 'chain' as we can. However, we only have 2 POSs at the moment.
Our brilliant plan right now is to place a POS at a moon we want materials from, mine that moon for a few weeks, then relocate the POS to another moon with different materials, and so even with 2 POSs, we can gather the materials needed for many different reactions.
Obviously, this plan requires mucho scouting for moons (which we are willing to do), as well as mucho haulage (we are also willing to do).
So, Science and Industry, help me! Do you have any objections or foreseeable problems with this idea?

From my experiance it's doable.. but will take alot of your time, Anchoring and un-Anchoring POSes are time consuming tasks that I for one prefer to do as few times as possible
One thing you didn't mention was the size of your POSes, which matters for a reaction which needs a reactor (Itemdatabase - Reactors)
For Simple reactors only require a medium POS but Reactors need a large as they just don't fit on a medium. Also keep in mind you could invest a few extra 100 millions to get a small moon mining tower up and move it several times (that's alot more doable)
I would suggest you research carefully what you want to mine and where to find it before putting up any towers. Buy moon scans or do them yourself. Plan ahead and make sure you have plans for what happens when your tower gets hit by Enemies. And stock fuel you'll need it. White Dwarf Black knights -= Death before Dishonor =-

Taking down a POS is the least fun you can have in Eve. I cannot imagine anyone keeping playing who plans to do this regularly.

And this^^
After the 2nd time you go through "moving" you'll be done with this idea probably, the fun-factor here has a negative value.

Edited by: Xonox Galatorg on 28/05/2008 20:29:18 You will probably have a hard time finding open moons of all the types of moon minerals you will want to mine.
When setting up a large POS it will take a few hours and unanchoring is twice as long(although offlining takes no time, while onlining does). Figure an hour to put the pos up alone and then setting up defenses and the other modules is probably going to take at least another 3-4 hours minimum (5-10 minutes to anchor and 3 minutes to online usually, but depends on the module).
Personally I would hit the self destruct button after a few moves of the pos as it will get quite dull (unless you are working on other things, such as market research to find good products right now).
My suggestion would be to start scanning some moons, pick one that will yield a lot by mining and just keep mining that one, then selling the moon minerals you don't need to buy other minerals that you will need in the reactions, Jita is a good place to look for moon minerals usually. You'll also soon find out that mostly anything worth mining is pretty hard to find and you will probably end up scanning hundreds of moons before you find anything worthwhile to mine.
In summary: -For sanity reasons, I wouldn't suggest it. -You probably won't find all the moon minerals you want to mine and even if you do they will probably be a good distance apart. -Mine the most expensive you find and sell them for the minerals you need in the reactions (or buy from profits from the reactions / t2 components).
