I've been wondering what do shares do in the company. Are they some kind og stocks? How can I use shares, how can I sell shares. Why is it important. Just (if you know) tell me, please everything about shares =)

Most i know about shares is that when you hand them out to people, they have the power to cast a vote in your corp. It can be a verry powerful tool if you have corpmates that donbt like you and need to vote you off the Island...
As for selling there is a way but I forget what it was...
Thats the Jist, except for dividends that is... You can use corp shares to makeshure everyone who has one shares in the corp profits...

You merely need to keep at least 51% of the shares (or even 50.1% (501 shares))... therefore any decisions within the Corp must pass you... as you hold 51% of the votes

Dividends are indeed very cool. Call it "profit sharing". In our corp, we share our quarterly profits with share-holding members while non-shareholders get squat (non-shareholders are new employees "on probation" for the first quarter).
Let's say we bring in 1mil isk (example) in a quarter. Let's further say we have 1mil shares, and 10 shareholders, each holding 10000 shares. That means, the corp has 900,000 shares, and the entire member-base has the other 100,000 (10k x 10). When you say "pay dividend" of that 1mil profit, the 1mil is divided up amongst all the shareholders *including the corp* and sends 900,000 to the corp and the other 100,000 to the 10 members (er, 10k each before taxes heh).
Kinda confusing, but it works great as a way to "pay" your hard working employees so they do not start skimming profits themselves by mining 10,000 Bist but only turning in 9,000. :)
Naturally, for those (like me) who had to play with the "vote for more shares" option, I am now screwed because I made 10mil shares, and only have 8 shareholders with 100k ea. That means, the corp will get WAYYYY more isk than the members, unless I give them all a million shares. Heh. Not gonna happen.

One flaw with shares is that when you give them to someone there is no log of where they went. Another problem (as I discovered by messing around) is that if a character that has shares is deleted, the shares just vanish into thin air. If your considering using them to pay dividends, know that when you put in an isk ammount to be paid out in dividends that that ammount is not per share, it is the total ammount to be paid to ALL the shares/shareholders. So say you have 1000 shares and you tell it to pay out 1000 isk, each SHARE will be paid 1 isk.

Can shares from one corp be assigned to another? I ask this because our corp mysteriously ended up with 1000 shares from another corp, and we've gotten no reply from them as to how or why this occured. I assume it's a bug of some sort, but no one's been able to explain how this happened. As a Director I can send shares to other members of my corp, but I've not seen a way to transfer shares outside of the current membership roster.
Any ideas?

You should be able to send shares to a specific person. I dont recall off the top of my head, but I sold some shares outside the corp the other day...

During the last stages of Beta, from about 850-934 we were able to Buy and Sell shares on the open Market, I would Imagine that this will return, thus re-enabling corporations and Alternate method of Raising Capital when it is needed as well as re-enableing a way to perform Hostile Takeovers Financially rather than with Brute Force.
I personally am looking forward to the re-enabling of this feature, whenever the SCC gets off thier Butt and Allows our Stock Exchange to be Used Again
