Edited by: Sun Sliver on 06/05/2004 04:44:53 I personally agreed with ATUKs decision to leave CA b/c this game is more fun when ppl are combating, not mining all together singing hippie songs. Yes, yes i know honor should be upheld and believe me i have done what i can to help out on an individual basis the guys i have played with who are now the nme. All the politics and such are not what i'm looking for - rather I'd like a good bunch of guys to kill my RL freetime with and thats what I found in ATUK. Flame away if you want, but i dont pay a monthly service fee to listen to someone tell me what i cant do. Any1 who knows me knows im a carebear at heart for the guys i respect and would rather help out mates regardless of what corp/alliance they are part of, but if it comes down to it i'm going to side with ATUK cause for all the crap things ppl say, they really are aligned with what i want out of the game, not to mention good fun to smacktalk with. Ok there's is my carebear post for the year Now someone say something mean so i can respond in fashion, all this sissy heartfelt crap is making me wanna go grab some ice cream and bon bons

What most of you seem to ignore is , for now there is noting to fight for other than the "fight". That is one big reason that many corps turncoat and involves in politic schemes like the ones in this thread , they want to switch targets to shoot at , "change of scenery"
Its pretty pointless to "protect" alliance space for other reasons than to make a stand and get fleet battles , if you dont, the enemy have nothing to shoot at. Killing miners doesnt work cause they all log and after a wile you get bored of ganking targets that dont fight back.
For the moment many of the top PVP'ers are bored cause they have done it all , fleet battles are only fun for a while and you want to have diffrent battles all the time (guess why m0o and many others have started using frigates)

Maybe there are people that want to mine, want to build. Heck we need those people too. We need minerals to go around ;)
If you have nothing to fight for it's easy to get bored. For me it's like this: Every time i get my corpmates through safe it's a win for me. I don't even have to kill an enemy.
Some people like Lord Zap, already have a lot of money and want to have fun, so they go and kill everyone they want to. I like it to be much more difficult, i like to catch those people when they try to kill my friends that are either in mining ships, indies etc. People like Lord Zap give me my fun in EVE. Although I really DO want to mine myself sometimes!!! (That's my day off, so i can read a book etc, so i get really ****ed if you show up then).

Its not all about fighting. To "win" a conflict you have to have ideas, administrative competance, imagination and a reputation for honourable dealing. FE was fatally flawed on all levels.
Lets not beat about the bush Crice. When Forsaken Empire declared war on Jericho Fraction I laughed my head off. You know why? Because FE was always a bunch of bored kids that were destined to lose every fight they ever took part in because eventually they would bored. They wouldn't adapt to neccessary paradigms, and they were continually shedding influence and friends with poor public relations. Combine that with the inescapable (think atomic clock accuracy) of the certain internal corp theft every three months and you have a joke.
The are corps in Eve that I would take extremely seriously if they declared their intention to wipe out Jericho. Forsaken Empire were never one of them.

Personally, having given it some thought, I think ATUKs decision to leave CA was the right one. I still think they were wrong to go camp HLW before declaring it tho.
They performed a thankless but essential task while being critiscised for it.
In CAs defence, ATUK virtually never attended meetings unless I went on their TS and asked (so that reason is out), and made no attempt to stop the CA 'getting crap' as they see it. Political problems need political soltions (as well as some old-fashioned ass-wupping), which they wernt willing to pursue, Which is fair enough.
Fighting CA seems to be be entirely for fun. In my mind it can be split into 2 moves:
They left CA because of the BS politics, the crap corps freeloading, and because they wanted to shoot whoever they wanted.
The declared war on CA because once out of CA, they needed a new opponent that was readily available: Fun.

I like how Jericho Fraction is flawed in the military department. I mean you dont like alliances(that claim territory) but theres onthing you can do to back it up. In my Opinion the only weapon you have is your opinion and for some reason unbeknownst to me they listen.

I left CA due to limited amount of play time, limited energy to log in, and not enough random acts of frigate violence. Well that and the majority of the CA's foes were all closer to GMT which made for nothing but boredom for a GMT +9 pilot.

Actually its pretty much the other way round Robotek: the alliances that claim territory can't do anything to stop people ignoring them. To back up my words I just have to be good at running and evasion and doing what I want regardless of alliance rules and regulations. To disprove my words you have to cage me and make me respect you. Thats the issue, and its pretty easy to see which route wins. And that brings us onto why the opinion has weight ... it works.

It's interresting that Jade has forgotten FE was able to bring down an alliance into a bunch of squabling corporations in just a couple of weeks. In the process Jericho Fraction was booted from the alliance with the slightest hope by removing a mouth piece FE had made a lightingrod, they would back out of the war. But I'm sure that since the whole event didn't have enough taltry sex episodes it has been forgetten by JF.

Yea BUT your way of infiltrating the territory is with frigates. But you have such a small playerbase that will fight in frigates that it wouldnt even matter. You couldnt accomplish anything worthwhile. Youd basicly just be wasting time so unless by entering the space and doing something destructive or costly you might as well not even be there.
Then heres an unofficial challenge
You try and run your corp jericho fraction in curse space. You have to live there and mine there and kill CA there. Once you can do that I'll consider you a real force worth fighting against. --------------------------------------------

The secret to beating mOo folks has always been incredibly simple...don't give them solo targets to glee over the destruction of. 3/4's of mOo's strength comes from "OMG! IT'S mOo! What do we do?!". They fly ships just like anybody else in the game.

Nuff said above.
It's just a game folks...have fun and enjoy it! CA was great and a great bunch of folks I met while involved with them. Alliances are fun and they are also sucky...so many folks with so many ideas/dreams/ambitions/goals. Just make sure the game fun doesn't get bogged down in political nonesense.

Hope you all dont mind if i make a slight aside:
I think the problem with any sort of group thing (alliances/anything) is people. People dont usually get along and in a game enviornment where there is no real consiquence for expressing your true feelings and where theres ample gunz and ships to express thoes feeling with the fighting is natural. I dont begrudge anyone fighting or quitting ca. Nor do i begrudge smack talk, boasting, flaming or any of the other things that come along with people playing a game.
whatever anyone says their reason is for quitting CA is its not as important as why they joined in the first place. People are fickle but there was something that origanlly atrackted them to Curse Alliance. its important for people to realize that their is something special abotu curse alliance and the pilots who fly under its banner. that is why it seems half the eve universe was part of ca at one point or another. CA is an incredible alliance with pilots im proud to fly with and people im happy to know. to thoes who left ca i can only hope you find the same satisfaction in whatever you persue.

yeah, you stayed in the station whole day until you outnumbered us 2:1, then undocked and wanted to fight.
ofcourse there nothing wrong with that, but it made us leave that place and attack CA somewhere else.
I also remember a 2vs2, where you lost 1 battleship and we lost none.

To which I would reply that the NVA devolution into vile territoriality and reactionary distrust was more a representation of essential weakness in the corporations involved, than strength in the Forsaken Empire. The NVA was unable to follow through on its founding principles and when the majority of corporations there chose to close borders and go xenophobic in a flawed coping strategy they lost the sympathy and support of much of eve. Sure the PA was an attempt to avoid the war and zero all standings but I believe it was short-sighted cowardice on the part of the principles, not uber political might and plotting on the part of the Forsaken Empire. What always annoyed me most was just how easily the NVA/PA folded, when it was clear FE was just a weekend warrior blob entity with a corp theft problem.
The fairly obvious psychological war efforts from FE were junior level attacks at best, but how irritating that they seemed to work ;) Case in point though, the biggest source of friction between Jericho and the corps that would found PA was nothing to do with FE, but everything to do with an internal espionage scandal. That caused the poisoning in the relationship ą not FE plotting.

A couple of things Robotek: you need to understand that from our perspective we win by being free to do what we want. We donĘt have to kill the enemy: we just have to be free to what we want. Sure sometimes we will blow up indies and cruisers and frigates belonging to the oppressors, but the actual economic damage is irrelevant compared to the psychological message that we can go where we want and do what we want, and we reserve the right to shoot back at those people that shoot at us.
How can I make this any clearer? Jericho Fraction is not a reactionary tyrant corporation. By and large we want everyone in Eve to be free to make a living, be happy, and get rich. Our win condition is not based around blowing up enemy ships. Its about psychology and cultural change. We maintain pressure on the Restrictive Territorial Concept merely by flaunting and disobeying the precepts. Its for the tyrants to crush freedom mĘdear not for us to support self evident truths with vainglorious kill counts and silly pride.
Quote: Then heres an unofficial challenge: You try and run your corp jericho fraction in curse space. You have to live there and mine there and kill CA there. Once you can do that I'll consider you a real force worth fighting against.
We donĘt really do any mining. We are traders and explorers and hunters and industrialists and fun loving free spirits. We already make a living from Curse claimed space and have done so for the last six months. But I should say again ą we donĘt want you to consider us a force worth fighting against. We just want to be free, and being free for us is winning: please think about that for a moment. We really don't operate on your paradigm.
I know its difficult to understand, but please believe me when I say ... Jericho Fraction is not fighting you to become you. We are fighting to transcend you.
Love and peace

I always thought of FE as an alliance to be honest. Mainly because of the number of corps that all merged into one. I never saw FE as lastly too long as a whole because of the problems with such a large merger.
I'm sure the same would happen with any alliance. If every corp in the alliance merged into a single corp, they'd reign supreme for a while, then people would argue, find flaws, and leave. In the end they'd form smaller corps doing what they want.
United for a short time to fight a common goal and it will work. United for a long time, thats something else.
Although that said, FE still stand as my favorite corp in eve due to the amount of fun they brought to 6-9 months of my time playing eve.
