These drones suck so much that nobody produces them; nobody uses them; nobody wants them; etc etc.
These need to be taken out of the game or whatever. Instead propose new drones which are offered through LP stores. Gallente Navy Ogres for example. Comparable to T2 in most respects. No lame split damage types. ------------------------ "There was this bright flash of light - and now this egg shaped thing is on my screen - did I level up?" |

My understanding of the problem with them is that they're next to impossible to make. There's a material somewhere in the production chain(probably the BPCs) that just doesn't drop ever, and as such there's like three dozen augmented drones in the game. I'd gladly use them in some cases, just for the speed boost, but they don't exist. Seriously, look for them on contract - I've seen one set of 5 up for 250 mil, and that's all, and I've scanned it multiple times for multiple drone types.
I like the idea of faction drones too, but Integrated and Augmented aren't bad. They just need to fix the upstream drop rates. ------------------ Fix the forums! |

Edited by: Ishina Fel on 29/05/2008 21:38:04 Not only some parts of the production chain - just about all parts are next to impossible to get. 99% of all exploration sites in the drone regions are crap, and 99% of the 1% that's useful drop only integrated BPCs (i.e. the tech1 version variant). Getting an augmented (tech2 variant) BPC is like getting the exact module you want off of the specific officer spawn you want in terms of rarity.
And then there's the building parts. You need to kill around 20 faction spawns (of which i have seen one in two months of drone ratting) to even build a single drone, much less five. IF you are lucky and get the proper combination of parts, that is!
So yeah. They simply don't exist because the building materials and BPCs can be considered rarer-than-officer-loot rarity.
However, they do NOT suck. 10% more speed, 50% more HP. That is significant, especially on ships with small dronebays where you can't carry replacements.

Maybe right about the BPCs, as those do seem quite rare and seem like the current constraint, but (based on my own stock, sufficient to build scores of the pathetic little suckers) I think the materials drop in sufficient quantity.

Yep... it's a hopelessly broken loot table.
Such as dark blood ships salvaging for T1 salvage parts.

Whilst I completely disagree with the OP, from the stats they look awesome, something needs looking into here.
The components can be collected slowly with a great deal of effort, but the 'augmented' bpcs are just stupidly rare. Looking through contracts, bpcs and built drones, I found a total of 5 'augmented' hammerheads at 300mil. No others were available.

They need to be made much more common and overall the drones should be notably better than their T2 counterparts. These things should be the Navy/Faction equivalent of drones, not the equivalent of officer loot that isn't any better than T2. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

Yes the components are a bit easier then most think to get. The bpc's on the other hand are like finding hens teeth. after 50+ sites I have found one (1) augmented hobgoblin bpc to date. I have dozens upon dozens of integrated but only that one aug. But stop and think about it. If they ever introduce the upgraded drone modules or the drone implants they are working on then these drones need to be rare because they would quickly become overpowered. Personally I am just glad to know there are augmented hammerheads to find as I was worried that the hobgoblins were the only ones available.
Also, Gal Navy Drones are logical and it is kinda stupid they dont exist in the LP store of the drone using race.
But I dont think the augmented need removed. So didnt support. --------------------------------------------- "There have always been ghosts in the machine . . . random segments of code that have grouped together to form unexpected protocols. " |
