Tactically this seems a very odd thing to do. Whoever this is clearly has an impressive force but to just show it off in such an aggressive way and then leave again without even a declaration or threat is very odd.
I guess we will have to wait and see what happens next...

I'd be less worried about why they were in Yulai and more worried about where they're going. I get the feeling that they were just jumping through Yulai.

Its a protest for someone at CCP finally to fix large projectiles and minmatar cap ships. Even the NPCs have finally realized that large artys are obsolete and have taken to the streets in protest.

Sadly, it looks like it could easily be Amarr Ships Destroyed, Republic Denies Responsibility, and thus a reference to a previous event - took some looking to find since it wasn't listed as world news like the others, but all the others were titles of previous news stories, mostly those involving the Nyx incident, and I think this story happened within a couple days of that event. Though, it's worth noting that the story I linked also involved unidentified, silent Minmatar vessels, in that case blowing up Amarr ships in Minmatar space.
News tickers showing something that happened after the "breaking news" being reported would also be a bit strange, so I think it's reasonably safe to assume they just have a list of EVE news titles scrolling past.
