I have made a sell order for a fairly valuable item yesterday. The brokers fee has been substracted from my wallet and the item appeared as I expected on the market. However the price I asked for it was a little too high, so the item wasn't sold during the 24 hours.
The problem is that the item disappeared after the sell order expired. It is not in my hangar in the station I put it on the market, in fact it is not listed under my assets at all. It hasn't been sold for the price I asked either (I would have noticed this in my wallet trust me on this).
This isn't normal, is it?

Items you put on the market do disappear. They won't re-appear unless you cancel the order or if it expires.
You can also modify the price you're asking for the item by accessing your wallet's order tab, given you're in modification range. It is likely to be limited to the station where you put the item for sale, unless you got the skills, I think it's daytrading for remote order modification.

It'll be in your hanger after next downtime.

This should be the correct answer. It's a known issue that has yet to be fixed. It will reappear at next downtime. ------------------------------------

Never set a sell order for anything less than 3 months. The fee is the same for either one, and you can always cancel it at a later date. This way, even if it doesn't sell right away, it may eventually.

That's reassuring.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind

One thing about that, if you sold the item for your corporation, when it expires and is dumped back to you - it will go into the Corporate Deliverables Hangar, not your individual Items Hangar.
This way, anyone from your corporation who has the access (not sure what is required) can get it.
So, if you sold it for your corporation instead of yourself check that location too.
If you look under Corporate Deliverables you'll see it listed the same way you would for Personal Assets.
