Any news on when the titans are gonna be released or just general info about them lieing around? I'm dieing to get some intel on what they're gonna be like and if they're going to come at all for that matter. If you know some other forum covering it please do link it here!

Stats from Beta were that they were enormous, heavily armored indies. Last I heard CCP was saying they would be introduced one at a time and not through production, although perhaps that has changed.
For PvP apparently they will have no value unless stats change. Most significant I recall was that the base targetting distance was under 20 KMs.
That's all according to my faulty memory though, as Titans are definitely not "coming soon TM" AFAIK.

Why do people persist in asking about Titans. They are not going to be available till well after Shiva.. I thought that was a given?

It's the first time I've asked, I should maybe have read around a bit more first but as far as I can tell there's no search engine for combing through the forums is there? Anyway I was just wondering if anyone had any info.

eve-online.com doesn't have an operale one yet (still buggy). Check my sig for a working one though.

You can notice that it has much less shielding than a Megathron, 50% more speed than a Thorax, a lot of cargo, 8 slots of each kind, and a not so good capacitor.

Those stats are from back in the day where battleships had like 500 armor and 500 shields. They are placeholders, nothing more. If you want to see a real joke, take a look at the strategy guide that you could originally buy with the game - funny stuff.
Those stats will undoubtedly change - titans are intended (from what I've read in the chronicles and other places) to be the most massive, powerful structures in the universe. Moreover, I can't quite remember where I read it - but it was today - that they are overhauling the HUD so that ships like the dreadnoughts and titans will be able to have more than 8 slots.

It was mentioned in one of the dev blogs that Titans won't come anytime soon(tm) just because of the jump drives which would simply ruin all the strategic stuff that is supposed to come in with Shiva...
But I really would like to see something new in capital ship size class, dreadnoughts, Tech2 battleships (Castor ?...), a 3rd or 4th type of battleship of each race..., carriers (!?)...soon. And I mean soon by within 2 months or so, not a year...
Give us 'more experienced' players something to aim for, even if it costs 1 Billion+ and takes a sh*t load of skills to fly it...

funny thing is, i remember a statement made shortly before release.
when the devs were asked, what they think would be the earliest time a corp would aquire a titan they told us something like:
the biggest and most dedicated corps might be able to get one 3 months after release.
but i don't really miss titans anyway.
and even when they are finished and put to the database along with the corresponding skills and BPOs...what do you think when the first player could fly one?
don't expect to see one in game piloted by a player this year...
no police, no summons, no courts of law;
no proper procedure, no rules of war;
no mitigating circumstance;
no lawyers fees, no second chance! |

I don't think the devs ever said 3 months after release. In fact I don't think they even expected people to be in battleships by that time (they were at least surprised at how fast people got into bships). Titans are not done yet. I flew one a while ago on chaos and I can say they need more work, when the biggest ship in EVE gets bounced around like styrofoam by heavy drones there's something wrong ;)
Besides, they're busy finishing up Shiva right now, and I'm much more excited to see player owned structures enter the game than Titans.

in a recent csm they said that they were looking at bring mini titans in soon, maybe about shiva.
also the true titans are mobile statiosn, you will be able to dock with them, maybe access station resources? certian dock with out, let it jump and then deploy...
