Hey guys
I've been through a bunch of different help channels to try and get an answer to a problem that I am having within planetary interaction. So far i've had no luck
To briefly explain, I am extracting materials from a planet and I am aiming for above 3k materials per cycle using the 1 day 45 mins extraction to get the longest extraction time on a 15 min cycle
In order to accurately make sure that I can get a good amount of time above the required 3k amount I am using the graph which if you hover over each little bar of the graph is tells you how much material each cycle will pull in
Before I install the program, during the process of locating the hot spot and setting up my extractor heads, for atleast the first 8 hours of extraction the graph is telling me that each cycle will be above 3k. I have sceencapped a picture here to show you what I am looking at: http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/784/pi1a.jpg
The problem that I am having is that the moment I click on install program to start it running, the graph completely changes to tell me that I will struggle to even get cycles aboke 2k: http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/774/pi2w.jpg
Between taking these two screenshots the only thing I have done is click on install program and bring up the graph. As you can see the numbers have dropped dramatically, giving me a very unproductive amount of material per cycle
An explanation as to why this is happening would be so very much appreciated. |

From what i can tell the graph is already trying to compensate for the material you took out for the 1d 45min cycle and is showing you what the graph were to look like on day 2. The Drake is a Lie |

The amount you see before you install is simply an estimate. Raise your planetology skills to get more accurate estimates. |

@Xercodo
I don't quite understand what you mean. On the same planet I have another extractor extracting a different resource, I do not get this problem, the numbers stay the same before and after I install the program. Both extractors are using the exact same extraction and cycle times. For this extractor in question to produce such different figures after the program is installed seems very odd.
@Rhys Onasi
As you can see, I mention here that after installing the program the numbers drop hugely. If you look at the two screen caps it shows you the values for the cycle. Before installing the program the graphs shows that cycle 32 will produce 3022 resources, once I install the program the second screen cap shows that cycle 34 (my mouse must have moved when I hit print screen) will produce 1304 resources, which is a drop of more than half..
I had a look into the planetology skill as this was one of the suggestions that was given to me, however take a look at the eve wiki description of what the planetology skill does: The skill Planetology increases the accuracy when scanning planets for resources. This is visible in the number of gradient bands displayed on the planet surface when scanning for a resource (requires Remote Sensing L3).
This is telling us that the planetology simply increases the colour gradients on the surface of the planet when scanning for resources prior to setting up extractors... I have found no link between the planetology skill and the graph/figured produced during surveying the extraction amounts
Also, as I said in my reply to Xercodo, "On the same planet I have another extractor extracting a different resource, I do not get this problem, the numbers stay the same before and after I install the program. Both extractors are using the exact same extraction and cycle times..." If it was to do with my skills, surely the same dramatic difference would be happening on this extractor aswell..
I've tried 2 day and 3 day extraction times, also giving out the same problem on this particular extractor.
I would very much welcome a solution to this problem. |

What resource are you trying to extract?
have you filed a bug report in game via f12 menu? (who knows, you might have found something and it'll put out logs for the devs to fix it)
have you tried scrapping all the extractor heads and putting them back in?
Is this from a completely fresh "build" on the planet, or have you had previous runs that were ok? Curiosity killed the Kata...
... but being immortal he wasn't too worried about keeping a count. |

@Kata
I would hate to think that this is actually a bug, as i'm hoping for some way to compensate for whatever the problem is... Although i'm beginning to think that that may be the only explanation.
I haven't as of yet filed a bug report, I shall do so if there doesn't seem to be a clear explanation on the problem.
I have not tried to reset the heads, I shall try this and let you know the results.
And yes, I had been running this setup for about 12 hours. When I noticed the problem I was resetting the program for the first time on this planet.
This factory is making mechanical parts, I'de need to log in to the game to tell you which raw it is collecting but it's either base metals or noble metals. most likely noble metals since there are 5 heads. |

With the numbers you're showing you're better off buying the stuff from the market and turning those to mech parts then extracting in high sec.

The Planetology and Advanced Planetology skills do indeed make the color gradients on the planet more accurate. They do also affect the estimation of what your extractors will extract before you install the program. I remember having this same exact issue and asking around and experimenting as to what was causing it. As far as I know this applies to the "Per Hour" and "Total" fields but I can assume it applies to the stats you are speaking of as well. With the skills at lvl 4 and 3 respectively I still get a deviation of up to 2k in the "Per Hour" category when attempting to get it just above 12k.
The reason why you might see it on one extractor and not the other is it is a field in which the stat can deviate but where it hits in that field is random. Sometimes it can be dead on. The work around is to install the program and see what it deviates to, then cancel and increase or decrease the time as necessary.
