I have put up with horrible lag in these systems for a few weeks now. It is getting old fast.
Could you please fix these systems? Especially those around Motsu (have an agent I have built good standing with there)? I can not even complete my mission(s) due to this lag and the game is unplayable.
*1-5 minute docking times *long lock times *long module activation times *stuck at jump gates *GUI delays
This game is awsome. But if I can't play it and do the missions I enjoy doing then I really don't want to pay anymore.
Please look into this and fix it. If you can not then please say so.
Thanks.

Move to a less crowded area with other agents... the quality might not be good but you would be completing them faster becouse there is less lag.
Then wait for CCP to fix the lag Soon(tm).

Attempt at a unbiased answer follows:
Don't expect a solution anytime soon. Either CCP can't easily fix this problem or it's not high on their list of priorities. You can either 1) Move to another area, 2) Learn to live with it, 3) Cancel your subscription in protest.

Your joking, you mean there is lag in Motsu, Jita and Saila
Thank you for informing the community, I personally will avoid these systems, oh wait I've only been in one of those systems once in the last 3 months

Yeah, I was missioning there and got fed up when I couldn't recall my drones and lost 2 because they killed the trigger on a Gurista Extravaganza. So I just up and left to a different system with a slightly lower quality agent, left a 7 for a 4, but the rewards are still pretty good, and there is no lag. -------------------------------------------------- Everyone is born right handed, only the great over come it.

Weeks? Try years.

I know you said you have an agent with whom you've built up standings, but the best course of action would be to move to somewhere less populated.
After all, you can't just "fix" server performance when you squeeze in a bunch of people on one node, and no matter how powerful the server is, more and more people will pile in there. There's plenty of quiet places to run missions, and even though the agents might not be quite as good, once you realize you make more ISK by not lagging out, the happier you'll be. __________

Jita is laggy because there's 600 people or more playing with the market and docking/undocking/changing sessions all over the place, with the odd mission in there too.
Motsu is laggy because there's 400 people each with 100 NPCs fighting away non stop day and night (just like how 0.0 is laggy when there's 100 people in system having a fleet battle).
It's been that way for years and will likely continue for quite a while longer, if not forever.
Go find another Caldari Navy agent in another system. --

I am seriously in awe of all you heroic dudes that keep on plugging away up there in the hellhole that is Caldari space. By seeing how many of you you can cram in as though it were a Volkswagen or a phone booth, you gallantly suck up all the lag that is to be had in empire space and keep pretty much all of the rest of it running smooth as a baby's tuchus. Without you brave souls "taking one for the team" so to speak, I don't know that my Eve experience would be nearly as nice as it is.
Hats off to you, bro. You da man. ___________________________________________

Jita typically has as many people in it, especially on a Sunday night, as entire smaller MMOs have on entire servers. It will be a black hole of lag, you should only shop there briefly. Go elsewhere for anything else. ----- Character back under original management. |

Well, you do bring up interesting points that have been discussed often and frequently on this forum. I am, however, compelled to suggest - as many before me have also - to GO TO A DIFFERENT ******* SYSTEM
Yes, the lag suck. Yes, you don't want the terrible inconvenience of moving you items 3 or 4 jumps, and suffering the terrible loss of using a slightly lower quality agent.
But once you factor in the fact that the additional lag is a significant timesink that cuts deeply into your mission profit, you'll realize that it would indeed be more profitable to move your operations to a less-crowded area and the only thing stopping you is the boundless stupidity of the human race. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.81 (Updated 4/8) |

Edited by: Taedrin on 03/06/2008 02:22:04 It may come as a surprise to you, but there are other corporations besides Caldari Navy with Level 4, Quality 20 agents...
/edit: I should also mention that Jita (and Motsu too, I think) gets it's own node all to itself. At this point in time, a single solar system's operations can not be split between multiple CPUs. CCP is currently working on turning the Tranquility server into one of the world's largest super computers (it's already the largest game server in the world). However, you have to wait for them to figure out this Infiniband thing and their implementation of RDMA.

EDIT: Sorry for being so harsh, but this topic has been done to death and the fact is that like traffic jams, it simply can't be solved without a major technological breakthrough. The best thing you can do - like you were driving in a major city - is understand the topography and stay out of rush hour traffic.

Complaining about lag in a particular system while you are contributing to it by staying there on purpose when you are free to move wherever is a fallacy lesser to none.
(Not to mention it's funny as hell! )
Enjoy your lag.
