This is not a bond issue as much as an exploratory dialog between me and the community. Hopefully I can share some things about myself and what I have been doing in EVE for the past couple years.
So let me cut to the chase!
I am here to tell you all about an exciting plan where I will be trading t2 goods between Jita and Amarr!
I only jest...
Consider for a moment that everything around you. LetÆs take your computer for example simply because itÆs handy. Was at one time just a pile of components before assembly. Sure the processor are motherboard are critical components, but did you ever stop to think who supplies the little plastic widget that protects your motherboards socket during shipment or makes the steel bolts that hold it to the case. The truth is hardly any corporations are vertical integrated these days. Meaning someone else makes these little doodads.
Eve is no different...
Who am I?
I make the nuts the bolts and plastic widgets. You guess it. I am a t2 component producer.
Profiting from the production of t2 components seems to be limited by the speed at which you can build them coupled with the number of manufacturing slots that you can wrangle.
Volume! Volume! Volume! Making a profit is all about moving product think Wal-Mart, yet things are never so one dimensional. After all if youÆre local Wal-Mart stocked half a million pumpkin pies and nothing else they would have gone out of business real quick. So they diversifyà
Diversification! Diversification! Portfolio diversification has been my primary weapon in dealing with undercutting and the price flux in this market so profits are not jaw dropping but average out to be steady.
I bet your thinking right nowà ôGreat sounds like your having a wonderful time moving your diverse volume of little widgets, but what effect would investing money in your operation haveö As far as I can currently see this business could be expanded and improved in several ways
1.The Creation of alts allows a single account to reasonably manage 5 to 10 more production slots and lab slots. *This is simply hiring more ôemployeesö 2.Pos facilities could greatly speed production. Efficient assembly lines for example provide a 20% improvement in production speed. With a fixed cost of ~50m isk a line, and a low variable cost of spent fuel. Averaged out across all such lines. This kind of expansion would get more products to the market while the profits are high on a particular component. *This would mirror a flexible manufacturing cell in the real world 3.A Pos would also provide labs. Considering the number of prints needed to keep my portfolio diverse why not sell researched t2 component bpoÆs for a profit as well. * I just installed your carpet and now I would gladly build you a deck for the low low price ofà
I understand that the public gets all riled up when a new business man comes around with the next big plan. I am fully prepared to be poked probed and picked apart, and thatÆs ok. Due consider that you are not the only ones with doubts and fears. I thought long and hard about exposing myself like this. Understand that a business plan can only become so transparent before it becomes useless and anyone can do it.
Some of my questionsà
How can I gain the trust of a tight nit inherently skeptical community? Could I get these people a reasonable return? Am I simply breeding competition? Could this be inviting a war declaration? Will CCP patch the game in such a way that my business model will become obsolescent?
I will try to answer some of yoursà
Q. Will you release your API key? A. Yes to some trusted 3rd party like Ricdic.
Q. Do you have security? A. T2 component prod

Ok I will answer your questions in turn
1/ Support of md community
You have a posting history and a sec status that suggests a genuine history of your stated activities. That coupled with api verification would go a long way towards your getting support for an ipo you might create. However it's important to note that getting support for an initial ipo and gaining long term trust are 2 quite different though related things.
2/ Rate of return.
I have no idea what your proposed business plan is. Just write the offer document and those people with expertise in your area will pick over it(I personally have zero knowledge of t2 component industry)
3/ Competition
See answer to question 2
4/ War dec
I really have no idea
5/ Will ccp nerfs affect my business
See answer to question 4
I look forward to reading your offer document but please make it 'interesting' otherwise you'll upset Ricdic

Edited by: Kazuo Ishiguro on 03/06/2008 08:30:11 You have a bit more research still left to do, unfortunately. Efficient arrays can't produce components (surprise surprise, you have to use a component array, which uses 10% more materials than normal for a 25% time saving). Also, you'd need a freighter to move the stuff out to the arrays & back.
If you think T2 component BPOs will count as significant collateral, you've got another thing coming. They'd only cover the capital for your materials if you produced on an absolutely tiny scale. Proton Power does this as well, for another IPO, and he regularly produces 27,000 T2 components in single jobs.
What might work better would be using the POS itself as collateral, by handing over 51% of the shares in your corp to a trusted 3rd party and removing your own permissions that would allow you to unanchor it. You could then create a separate holding corp to issue shares for distributing dividends.
Come back when you can say what monthly rate of return on the invested capital you think you can provide, and back it up with a decent spreadsheet, and explain what you'll do in various disaster scenarios (market fluctuations, hit by bus etc).

Edited by: JaystarZero on 03/06/2008 08:41:45 Thank you for the positive feedback. I am busy crunching numbers. This discussion will hopefully lead to a much more detailed offering document.
Once I understand what the public is expecting of me.
Do you think it would be best to release a "typical weeks" profit report? That would very clearly outline the profitability and scale of my current operation more clearly.

What I would like to see is :-
1/ What is your current nav?
2/ What do you currently do to generate income?
3/ How much investment capital are you looking for?
4/ How will that investment capital impact on your income generation?
Generally speaking the answers to questions 1 and 2 can be reasonably checked via api verification and this then helps potential investors to assess the risk involved in the answer to question 3
Hope this is helpful to you

If you are selling in the same system as Proton it may not be in our (PP Investors) best interests to invest in you. Having said that, I did quite enjoy your post and the humor that accompanied it as well as your approach to feedback and criticism.
Anyway, will be following this closely as thus far you have impressed me.

I would also want to hear about how you will handle the logistics of the larger operations the influx would provide. Frankly, I would be much happier with a joint venture IPO...i.e. you making the stuff, working with somebody else who handles hauling and selling, something along those lines. Toss in a third person to handle scouting and security for the hauling and you've got yourself a home run. IT also provides the flexibility that you can focus on construction and somebody else can focus on the markets, or providing two viewpoints of the markets to find the best place to sell. In general - I guess I just am tired of one-person IPOs.
Would also be nice to see an 'out' scenario that involves a trusted third party, i.e. if you disappear this person would have the access to liquidate assets and pay the shareholders. Also need a general 'I am tired and want to get out of this' plan.
I'm a newb, but those are the things I would want to see...

You do realize that IPO stands for Initial Public Offering. There is no need to put the extra initial in front.
And I love the title; good movie.
