Ok i really didn't know what to put in the title bar so anyway here's my question:
While playing EVE it didnt occur to me that there where things to read around it... I like to read sci-fi stuff and i'd like to read the stories on the EVE website. Is there a particular order in which i can read these items in a list since the game was originally released????
Sorry if im not being very clear here! ----- "Kneel before your god" --Apophis -Stargate SG-1 |

Read the chronicles from bottom right to top left (so exactly in reverse order of how you would read). There is also a PDF document online somewhere on the homepage that contains all stories and chrons in the same order as they were released (with some few exceptions).

The following answers your thread title more than your posted question:
What make Eve... well.... Eve?
"Pain"
The "potentially" painful nature of Eve is the root of all of Eve's major virtues AND Eve's major flaws.
The real possibility of significant pain gives Eve an adrenalin edge. The possibility of painful failure adds meaning. When your ship/stuff goes "boom" it has significance. There is no substitute for pain for achieving these things.
However....
Given the possibility of a truly painful experience, 99% of experienced players do WHATEVER IT TAKES to "not" be easy victim for such pain. This is not to say they avoid all risk, but to get a painful kill on them, you got lucky, and/or you had to worked for it.
In other words, the pvp in Eve is better, but can be hard to find, and damn near impossible for lazy morons who seem to thing they should find easy suicide monkeys with phat loot. (The misery of lazy gankers whining about the lack of suicide monkeys gives me pleasure.... ....)
There is no cure for this state of affairs, only a balance. Its Eve.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

The title of your post gives the impression that you want to know what it is for different people that makes EVE the game it is, not that you want to know the story behind it I'm highly biased about most things, but it has nothing to do with the overall view of my corp or alliance |

What stories are you after?
It seems, to me at least, that there are two strands that make up Eve: firstly there is the RP back story which is fairly accessible and easy to swat up on by reading the articles published here; secondly there is the player driven story line, to me this is the really interesting bit, the history of territorial wars and personality clashes that have lead to the various allegiances and enmities that we see today is one of the truly fascinating aspects of the game... however it is much less well archived and much more extensive than the RP backstory and I'm not about to start trying to document it now... sorry ----------- When I was a n00b, I spake as a n00b, I understood as a n00b, I thought as a n00b: but when I became pr0, I put away n00bish things. |
