Care to bring some argument for it? Seeing how I've already tried to bring mine for the opposite?
As for the post above stating that geddon is best for pvp, interesting, I kind of get the feeling they're eaten alive in a 1on1 versus an abaddon in your average docking game. Oh, and for some reason it comes spontaneous to ask for an apoc from amarr pilots for a fleet fight. Am I doing it wrong?
Then again, perhaps the post was more reflective than argumentative. Sorry I guess. Parrots, commence!

Otherwise, all of them will get the job done, the geddon/abaddon better so.
I was going to smack you hard. Unfortunately this thread is about PvE where geddons are... just bad. For noob-BS pilot use apoc (good cap, good range, easy to run 2x LAR). For advanced use abaddon. For fast mission whoring use paladin or nightmare.
First off, this is about ratting - not missions. A dual lar setup would net some 600 dps tanked. Why?
Which Battleship is ideal for mission running/0.0 ratting? - this is what i saw in 1st post. I responded about mission part where geddon plain sucks (except drone missions, but still abaddon is better).
When it comes down to ratting yea geddon is decent tho abaddon is STILL better due to longer range of guns and no delay with drones approaching target.
But when it comes down to 0.0 ratting... i prefer HACs myself - tad slower in killing, tad faster in moving, and WAY more survivalability vs roaming gangs.

Still have no idea what you're talking about. I'd rather (actually, I do) use an amarr battleship for missions/ratting than minmatar. Yes, EM/Therm sucks against guristas and angels, but artillery sucks against every NPC, regardless. I'm fully specced in minnie too, but have almost nil skills in amarr...
(I don't have enough missile/drone skills to use a phoon :( )

Simply put, if you're not using an Apoc in fleets, yes you are doing it wrong.
If you're interested in the "proofs", feel free to check out some of the larger artillery threads.
If you're interested in "proof is in the pudding", try an Apoc out. It's just grossly overpowered.

Pirokobo,
In this thread we are discussing missions, and ratting. Amarr BS's are very good at both, in that they...
a) Do not need ammo b) Can tank well c) Are pretty d) And most importantly, what the OP asked about
If we expand this discussion into PvP then you can certainly bring in your arguements on how Amarr BS's are weak and all one needs is kinetic damage and some large drones to omgwtfpwn an Amarr ship.
As to the OP's question...
I enjoyed flying an Apoc personally. I found it visually pleasing, as well as able to handle any spawn effectively. Granted, I was hunting Sansha's at the time.
Also, the bonus of not having to lug around ammunition was a major bonus and allowed for some extremely lazy ratting...
Warp to belt...lock BS's...hit F keys...move on. The other people in this thread have done a fine job in breaking out the calculators and number crunching each ship.
But, in the end, you cant go wrong ratting in an Apoc. Others may be somewhat better, others may be somewhat worse...but it does the job rather well.

Amarr ships are so simple. IÆm surprised there is so much being said on the topic.
Missions: Paladin if you have a LOT of money the Nightmare surpasses it. But for faction or tech 2 fittings the Paladin really is better than the Nightmare. If you want to do missions with one of the standard 3 BSs, use the Apoc. You will love the range bonus. And when the Navy Apoc gets itÆs update it will be even better!!!
0.0 Ratting: The best BS for this is the Geddon. While any of the other ships will do a better job the Paladin and Nightmare are just too damned expensive to take out of Empire space. And the Geddon has a better chance to survive hostile encounters than the Apoc or the Abaddon. That extra large drone bay has saved my butt on a number of occasions.
PvP is a lot more complicated but the OP only asked about PvE.

Originally by: La5eR The geddon is all gank and no tank really although you do see many ppl fit it with 1600 plates and TAP's. If you had to go with a missioning ship id choose the Abaddon as this has a res bonus. The apoc is still good for missioning since it has 2 LP's for those non-EM/Th vuln rats. But ratting only requires you to tank at most 7 rats at a time where as missioning is at times a swarm of 30 ships.
With that said: Geddon = PVP Apoc = ratting Abaddon = mission
I would correct and say that the Apoc is okay for the sniper role. Also, unless its Sansha or Angels space stay away from Amarr ships for ratting.
If the Amarr are a colony of ants then CCP is that mean kid with the magnifying glass trying to set the ants on fire. |

Amarrian battleships may not be perfect but in MY book they have some of the CLOSEST ships to perfect. Brutal DPS at medium to long ranges, thick buffers, fast tracking guns, nice looking ships, a racial ewar that screws everyone who's not Caldari. . .
And in terms of Ships, look no further than the Zealot, Sac, Apoc, Punisher. . . ALL of them are fantastic ships that are a match for any ship in their class at their roles.
I'm currently training to have a Zealot of my own - those things are nasty.
